No Brodeur has not been playing well IMO. Had an absolutely atrocious game against the Islanders last week, and an okay game against Edmonton. Schneider had a whatever game in Pittsburgh, and a damn good game in Vancouver.
I wouldn't be surprised if Brodeur is the difference in tonight's game. In a good way for Calgary.
I'm surprised to hear that. Would you guys say his downward spiral is primarily due to age, overall team, or DeBoer's system?
You can get insight all you want, I do it too. I don't go over and call their team atrocious and I'm coming in peace or whatever you guys opened with. Best part is this is coming from Calgary fans of all people. Random matchup with a team with little history.
Look, I'll clarify - Didn't call the team atrocious, I called the record atrocious. The team itself (on paper) seems OK, heck before today's GDT I wouldn't have guessed that they hadn't won in regulation. It's easy as a fan to be defensive about the team especially when they're not doing well or projected to be in 30th place team when all is said and done which is what we Flames fans have heard the entire offseason by other fans and pundits and what have you so I get where you're coming from.
Although I understand the Devils have had their own problems this offseason, from most accounts I would say both team's records have not matched anybody's realistic expectations thus far.
As for little history, there's not much one can do about that other than the Flames becoming the WCF winners and the Devils winning the East and both teams meeting in the SCF for the next three out of five years. At least both teams are seeing each other at least twice in the next few years, instead of perhaps not playing each other at all.
Not trying to be a jerk but this all came about from one of your posters reporting on how he viewed the HFFlames GDT and it's been dumb since that. Let's just talk hockey.
