Apparently he's training all summer with Gary Roberts so we'll see how his body looks like by September, but from my experience, a summer isn't that long of a time for a young kid to get 20pounds extra of lean muscle.
Your experience probably isn’t training with experts and having nutritionists map out you every meal. 20 is extreme. But 10-15? I bet he can do it. Especially looking at the size of his family

One aspect that hasn't been brought up yet, if Tkachuk reaches his ceiling of 1st line gritty power forward who is a pure winner/captain for life material, Montreal passed on him to make a (slight) reach in order to fill an organizational need and allowed Tkachuk to be selected by one of their greatest rivals.

I'll be the first to admit that this is pure confirmation bias, and that I have barely watched him play, so my opinion on the matter is not all that valid, but I've spent the last day or two reading a ton of articles on Tkachuk and I couldn't be more hyped at the idea of what he's supposed to be and at the narrative of a broken team selecting a born leader with 1st line playoff warrior upside. Whether that is or will become a reality, I guess we'll see.

Zadina is not a perimeter player. Dude plays 200 feet.

Playing against boys. A lot of players can't translate that once they hit the NHL. I do think Zadina has the size to handle board battles/front of the net scrums, but speed...not too sure.

If you have good size but below average speed, you end up something like Milan Michalek is the middle/tail end of his career. I think Zadina will be considerably better than Michalek, but people think Zadina is going to be an instant 50 goal scorer.

Zadina is not a perimeter player and has way more hustle than Hoffman

He will be a good player

Both him and Tkachuk will

10-15 pounds of mass sure. 10-15 pounds of muscle in a summer is physically impossible.

Thank you. You post shows a very mature attitude.

Didnt he commit to BU ? He has never brought up the ohl or AHL as possibilities,

He went to BU last year.. he has to decide whether he is returning in the next few weeks (heard something like that yesterday)

In the interviews after he was picked he said they will sit with family and the team and decide what is his best next move

It’s not.
example. Taylor lautner packed on 30 pounds of muscle in 4 months for a movie role.

Now this is only saying that he NEEdS to put on 20 pounds. (I don’t think he does) but if he absolutely needed to. I think he can put on 10 to 15 pounds of muscle in 3.5 months. WITH a nutritionist.

Hollywood actors are notorious for using PEDs when training for those roles and aren't subject to drug testing. It's way easier for those guys vs. NHL or NBA players. I would say NFL but we all know their drug testing is a joke.

They can also do straight bulks and cuts unlike most performance athletes that don't have the time off to do a proper cut.

Actors use steroids lool

Anyways it doesn't matter no athlete is 100 % muscle. No one just puts on 20lbs of pure muscle without any fat. Let's see at rookie camp and main camp what he does and take it from there

Agreed. I competed in powerlifting and had a few really successful bulks in my early 20s. It is absolutely possible to put on 1lb of lean mass per week over a 12 week period, but you're right that you need an intense meal and workout plan and to follow religiously. Actors and athletes do it all the time, an average Joe can too but it's a huge commitment.

No shit, people have organs and bones. Where does your body composition knowledge come from? How to be a soy boy for dummies?

Maintaining 10-15% BF during a bulk is doable, you will put on some glycogen weight too but still 75% of mass gain can be muscle.

Maintaining BF% during a bulk means you are putting on fat as well as muscle. Which yes is totally doable.

The actor/movie star thing was already covered. They take steroids lol.

Who is already going to get a Tkachuk jersey once his number is released? I assume he will be taking number 7. I can't see this kid not having a great NHL career and being a crowd favorite.

aaaand what does that have to do with Tkachuk?
if you're trying to liken Zadina to Galchenyuk and Tkachuk to Domi, that's dumb because:
- Domi isn't a power forward
- If Zadina's production ends up about the same as Galchenyuk, that would be disappointing if we took him #4

It's an apt comparison.

After watching a couple videos of Brady, I'm actually fairly surprised with his speed. There's a clip of him joining the rush and his straight line speed was ridiculous. He's not just a big power forward, the kid can move.

He’s a good player and I am doubly excited for him and white to have a horrible reputation around the league for running over goalies

Would be nice to have players to play with an edge like that for a change. I'm tired of teams running over us and only looking for Neil to come on to save us. Top 6 players that play like that are extremely valuable.
