Saying the Caps are only Alexander Ovechkin right now is unfair. I saw a thing the other night.. most goals in the league the last 20-25 games or something like that.. OV was #1 and Troy Brouwer was #2.

Either way, we have to play and beat them all to be the best. So this whole "OMGZ we have to AVOID PITTZBURGH AWW GAWD" nonsense needs to stop. I don't see how Pittsburgh falls to the Islanders in a 7 game series. If we somehow get further in the playoffs, we may VERY well face them. We have to beat them to be the best; that's what Jon. says.
 
Rangers can't beat panthers lucky to beat hurricanes. Doesn't matter if we play Pitt. Boston Washington or Montreal. They will lose easily the way they are playing now.

I'm not worried about getting further right now. I'm worried about Round 1. What gives us the best chance to move onto Round 2? Avoiding Pittsburgh.

I don't follow the CUP OR BUST mentality. If we get the 7 seed, oust #2 Boston and lose to Pittsburgh in Round 2.. that would bring a helluva lot more enjoyment and excitment than going down in 5 to PIT in round 1.
 
Really like the 1st line with Nash-Brass-Zucc

Hope Torts sticks with it through out the game.

Unless I missed something Crosby isn't back yet. Fleury sucks. Im actually hoping we play Pittsburgh. If we can beat them this teams confidence level will be brimming and we can go VERY far.
 
I Hope we get the pens in the first round. I have no faith that ott or the isles will win that series. I would also rather face the pens with a rusty Crosby and possibly letang vice giving them a series to To their feet under them.

I also feel if we face the bruins and win we will still pay a physical price negatively affecting 2nd rnd chances. Better to let someone else battle the bruins and take our chances with the pens when we have the best chance for success.

You NEVER know.

1986 Rangers backed into the playoffs, not playing great hockey, got some lucky bounces and injured players came back in time for the playoffs. We beat the first and second ranked teams in the East in the first two rounds. They were the two best teams outside Edmonton that year during regular season. Oilers bowed out in round 2.

You just never know.

Am I the only one who sees Pittsburgh as a giant target?

I really want to knock them off that pedestal.

I think we all do. The problem is: Yeah, we match better with Washington or Boston, and I'm pretty sure everyone wants to knock the Penguins off. But instead of discussing that, it's "avoid the penguins and hope another inferior team to them beats them out".

Personally, I think Boston is more dangerous in the playoffs than Pitt. Better defense, better goaltending, more physical. And GOD am I ever sick of Washington. Every god damn playoffs, it's OV and the caps again.

Also good points. I just think that because the Bruins' style is more grind than Pitts (Let's face it, Pittsburgh does have more offensive talent but this doesn't mean we can't beat them), and since the Rangers play a tough style like that too, we match up a little better. Still is no reason why people should be clamoring to avoid a team that, if we advance somehow, we may face anyway.

Precisely. I think this team has a better chance of disrupting Pitt's offense and capitalizing on bad D and goaltending than playing grind it out and getting through Bruins Solid D and Goaltending.
 
I would of started Biron because even if they lose I dont think the banged up Pens are better than Boston, Montreal, etc
