They're both making plenty of mistakes, but Moore is younger, cheaper, and has less NHL experience than Del Zotto so he gets a longer leash. I was a Del Zotto defender for a long time, but it's pretty obvious he hasn't embraced any of the opportunities he's been given this year. Time for a change.

100% agree. Literally the only thing he has going for him is that he's a strong skate. However the fact that he's a strong skater doesn't automatically make him the better player. Add in the fact that most NYR fans irrationally hate MDZ and there you go.

Fans claim Moore is so young he's part of the core! Yet they're practically the same age.

Moore is better offensively! Yet MDZ has more points in an average season that Moore has in his career.

Moore is such a better skater! He's like McDonagh! He's a better skater than MDZ but that alone doesn't make him a better player and he is a far cry from even being a McD light.

He looked good last season in Torts' system which obviously covered deficiencies. Yet this year he's been the most frustrating player ever. Losing his man in D zone, making poor passes,losing battles. By far the biggest disappointment this season. Every mistake MDZ makes is magnified and made out to be he end of the world and more proof that he sucks. Yet Moore makes more and worse mistakes very game and not only has the fans liking him more but also AV too!

I've never been a great big fan Of MDZ but it's starting to bother me now. He's been off this season but not nearly as bad as it's made out to be and I feel he's unfairly being run out of town. I truly believe not only is MDZ the better option right now, but he also will have the better career.
 
This game could be brutal. Look at the potential goon-age on Pitt. NYR better be fast tonight to force Pitt to limit the tough guys ice time.

Cally needs to be on the line with Richards and Zucc, here is one example before Cally got hurt...

Richards has not been playing well, and I think Cally on his line will energize him and that line.

The 5 on 5 has not been great for this team, especially after when Cally got hurt,thank goodness for a strong PP this season.

MDZ hasn't played poorly this year. Just off his standard offensively. We've successfully destroyed any trade value that he had, though.

I like the lines NYR is going with this game. Major concern will be faceoffs. Stepan and Brassard are both at their usual lows, Richards is below 50. Boyle is the only competent one at 56%, though Moore has been good when used.
 
Need to see more form Richards and Nash. And throw Stepan in that group too.

Oh and Brassard...




and the Boyle line needs to score.
 
Made it to Pitt. Getting some beers And heading to to arena. Already hating this city with all with pens stuff all over the place. Any good places to eat and drink here?

It's always good to be backed up by a good poster.

This boards view of Del Zotto has been skewed ever since his sophomore slump. He's been really bad in a handful of games, sure. He's been just fine in every other one, MUCH better than John Moore. People trip over themselves to blame Torts for Kreider's suck last year, but don't think AV dicking MDZ around has anything to do with MDZ having a down year.

AV's handling of MDZ is another reason i've not been a fan of his.

It tells you alot that many people who aren't big MDZ fans are saying this stuff. Even I'm defending him over Moore and nobody has ripped MDZ more than I have.

If MDZ scored 2 goals and an assist in the game, people would vehemently complain and bash him about not having a hatty because he missed the net on the assist.
 
John Moore has looked lost at times. I also agree, MDZ should be in over Moore.

Tough lineup decision tonight with the return of Callahan. Who sits? Pouliot is too hot to sit right now. With the poor faceoff stats from Richards, Stepan, and Brassard; you really need Boyle and D.Moore in the lineup. You especially need those two for the PK. It seems like Miller is going to get shafted here though I think he has played very well. Nash has slowly played better the last couple of games.

Hagelin and Kreider need to show up on the scoresheet. Zucc needs to stay the course. The team, at least on paper, looks a lot better when healthy; again given Poo's recent surge and the ability to rely on Zucc's play.

It is approaching that point yes.

If you wanna say there's alot of D-men better than Del Zotto, I'll but that. If you wanna deal him, that's fine too. But to take blatantly inferior players and say they're better is just blind hatred.

I almost feel like my thunder has been stolen ;)

Agreed. I pray every day he is not traded for Franson. He has so much more value than him. DZ has much more potential and it would be a flat out steal for Toronto.

I still hope DZ stays.
 
Crosby has more than twice the amount of points as our leading scorer. Win here would feel quite good, mmm, yes, indeed.

Article says he's gonna be with Adams and Vitale. Maybe he'll suck the offense out of Vitale who always looks like Jari Kurri against us.
