Anyone want to try and convince me that Columbus or the islanders have more talent than we do? They most certainly don’t. How about Pitt right now wirh all the injuries? All winning mostly every night. They have coaching and structure. We do not. Quinn is the biggest problem in this org right now. Was a bad hire probably by necessity since no one wanted the job of a team tearing it down. But now? Wirh the guys we have? No way should we not be playing better hockey. No way. This coaching staff needs to go and soon

They are more talented, and have more of their prospects entering their stride at the same time than us.

I know you little dreamers want to use the "muh coach" argument, but this roster right now most definitely is ass.

The only good thing to come out of today is the bottle of Macallan I’ve opened to dull the pain of our loss...

Hurts me deeply to say it, but on average, the Piles and the BJs have better players and better coaching than us AINEC!!!

Although Barry Trotz may be the best coach in the league, so duuuhhh

There are a ton of holes on this team, the whole right side is so bad that Kreider is playing RW at times. The left side d needs a top guy and needs Staal(was alright last night) to retire. We have a dman playing forward and have no useful 4th line and right now no 3rd line without Lemieux. Said it before but we wont be competing until the turnover is complete, and by that I mean when Staal, Smith, Lundqvist, Haley, Mckegg are replaced by better younger options and Kakko has found his footing.

What was Henke trying to do on the Gaudreau breakaway goal? He turns his blocker hand over and extends it out with his goalie stick blade pointed up towards the ceiling...

Yup- last night the team again goes down 2 after giving up 2 breakaway goals and then is behind the 8 ball right away. Here’s the real issue, these games are rinse and repeat type games. The same mistakes are occurring, the same system is being played and we are watching another season where it’s hard to point to a single improvement in the defensive structure. At this point in the season there are limited practices but as we were told by Joe last night, the Rangers practiced before this game. I guess they practiced rink turns because I saw 0 difference in this game.

Also let’s just highlight how Kappo gets no time at the end of a game where he was producing...

Calgary's 4 goals last night--two breakaways--a deflection off of a skate and one very well conceived and executed play.

The Rangers biggest problem isn't their coach---it's getting their defense to catch up with everything else.

Not sure I would entirely blame Panarin for the first goal against but his pass from the left corner seemed to catch Trouba unawares--whether he saw it coming too late once it got past him and on Gaudreau's stick Henrik was in a bad spot against the wrong guy.

DeAngelo's play on the two man advantage was just f***ing dumb. He owns that goal against.

Ryan's spin around and shoot goal that went off Skjei's skate was just bad luck.

All of Gaudreau, Hanifin and Monahan made great plays on the Flames last goal.

For our part both Zibanejad and Panarin had an off night and when that happens the stars align against us.

Hopefully we can win in Vancouver. There are some positives in that Fox has come out of his slump and Kakko looked good.

i f***ing hate McKegg. i hate seeing him exist on the ice

call up Gettinger and either ice a competent fourth line or play them 4 minutes a game i don’t give a shit

Hate to say this but it does bear repeating: This team hasn't had a defensive structure since Torts was fired.

I think he was expecting Gaudreau to come back across so he was gong to use the stick to poke check or trip him up

I can't say I hate McKegg but I don't see what he brings that say the much younger Gettinger wouldn't. There seemed to be those who just wanted him to make the team because they liked his name. He is this season's version of Paul Carey--maybe not even that good. I don't blame him however for the ice time he got last night. If your coach puts you on the ice--you play to the best of your ability. I don't quite understand why he was on the ice so much in the 3rd period when we needed a goal because it was very unlikely he was going to do anything to get it.

As for Kakko---that was the best he's looked in a while. He was much harder on the puck--that said he had only one shot on goal and it wasn't like he was spectacular. The main issue last night for us was that Panarin's line had a bad night and Zibanejad's wasn't great and that we gifted Calgary two early breakaway goals--the shorthanded one in particular.

5 on 3 and you give up a SHG - that was the game right there! This team ain’t deserving of a playoff berth unless they figure out how to play smart and disciplined.

I mean.. this team as currently constructed is at best a borderline playoff team. Our goaltending has been iffy at times, we have no forward depth and the left side of our defense is all-star caliber... at the ECHL level (sans Lindgren). We have Kakko who is working through normal rookie struggles, Haley still seeing ice time every now and then (never an excuse for that), Lemieux is out with a broken hand which really hurts considering we have little depth as it is and, a defensive coach that should be fired into the sun at 3x light speed.

People can complain about Staal, McKegg, Howden, etc. and I get it, but those are individual players. A system is more important and what Lindy Ruff is doing with our defense is downright terrible.

Brady was chasing the play all night. He was consistently out of position. For that fact most of the team in the defensive zone was out of position. How management continues to allow this poorly coached defensive play is beyond me. Shits appalling.

Is it really though?

They've had games where they've been good, they've had more games where they've been bad. This is kind of what I expected in terms of results.

A lot of their good games were just the result of top-heavy performances by the team's top players. I'm not a fan of the wide-open style that they've embraced. There have been just a few games where they actually have played with structure.

So without reading 30 pages, Hank had trouble tracking and too many risky passes?

Same old story. Skjei was horrible, but on the Flames' first goal, the blame is on Breadman, who threw a blind backward pass from the left wall to the right point that was intercepted.
