Nothing I love more than falling asleep for a nap at work with a hockey game on.

Sportsnet deleted all the NHL replays. The only game I could watch was this one. I made it halfway through the first and passed out.

Woke up about halfway through the third.

For those saying you shouldn't boo the anthems because it's disrespectful you are correct. For those saying you shouldn't boo the anthems because you want to keep politics out of sports you're too late. Russia wasn't even invited because of political reasons.

If the NHL wants fans to keep politics out of sports they should do the same.

It was worth watching just to see Marner getting humbled alone. The entire country witnessed him humiliated on the world's largest hockey stage. Except for me because I slept through most of it.

But I might watch it again when I get home just to see him sulk on the bench some more.

I what way was he humiliated?

No one would have shame. A lot of players have to accept roles playing for team Canada. Besides his icetime was 12:43 Canada - Finland - Feb 17, 2025 | NHL.com

I'm sure god on skates is telling himself the exact same thing right now.

I showed 5-on-5 stats. Including special teams time isn't a fair comparison for those who don't play on them. The majority of the game is played 5-on-5 and is a better representative of player usage by the coach.

Either way he still had his ice time slashed.

God on skates played 16:29 less than usual but still a great game.

Nice to see Matthews and Marner continuing to show that they can't elevate their play in tough tight games and typically just fade away.

Can't wait to watch them do it again in April!

Yes it’s pretty obvious what they are now. Very sad to see. If they were more like Sid we’d have 1-2 cups already

Matthews has been good Marner has been OK. I am also looking forward to the playoffs to. I am going to watch the gold medal game and the rest of the regular season first though.

The problem isn't even the core so much. Matthews can guide us to a cup if healthy. Nylander can be put in situations to give use elite level secondary scoring and clutch. Marner is an odd man out playoffs and JT is too old. Rielly not living up to the contract.

The problem is misplaced cap, overpays, too many slow players JT MM MR include.

So were these really the best players available for team Canada? I don't follow hockey as much anymore and don't recognize lots of players compared to before when I recognized just about every player on every team but surely we could have done better than ... Hagel? Cirelli? Couldn't they fit Kadri somewhere in there?

Also it sucks that Canada has declined from the days of Brodeur and Luongo as the goalie pair to Jordan Binington. Top end goalie talent is so bad for Canada whereas the yanks have the best goalie in the league in Hellebuyck.

Crazy how the one dude who was the only hope for Canada to have a top level NHL goalie chose making bad decisions apparently over this lmao (Carter Hart)

Very strong take on the politics stuff. I respect it. The whole idea of sports was we may disagree and hate each other politically but for this little bit of time let's set that aside and be amicable to have a good human experience. Not I won't play with you because you won't bow at my feet like everyone else. I hope Canadians can learn America doesn't care about us thriving anymore than Afghanistan does and stop having blind cuckold like loyalty to them.

Awesome point bringing up Russia. They should be in this. Why would anyone punish hockey players for what politicians do.

The chemistry between these teams are crazy. Yet Team Canada has no chemistry it feels like
Those teams have international programs all these players grow up together playing in . Our program is always throw a team together last min and expect them to gel . I expect the next national team to look quite different again .

Seems like theres been some very heavily bias'd selections with Armstrong and Cooper. Cooper has cirelli in Tampa, he really shouldnt be anywhere near this roster. Having your bottom 6 C's be Cirelli and Bennet is just silly. Have 1 or the other, not both.

Armstrong is tied to Binnington in St. Louis. Won a cup with him, so thats been their guy since the start.

Hagel deserved his spot, can play up and down the line up and is a very strong even strength player.

The Olympic team will be stronger.

Scheifele, Hyman, Thomas, Bedard, Wilson, Kyrou, Cellebrini, Chychrun, Fantilli??, Guenther, Johnson, Strome, Vilardi, Harley, Bouchard, etc should get strong consideration IMO.
