Thanks, dude! And yikes.
I think the red area near the faceoff circle to the left is known as the "Tippett zone."
Another day, another post filled with deadys lies and gaslighting. It's breathtaking
He's the only guy who frequently defends this mess. Part of me wonders is he's a paid shill for the organization. And notice that he supports every GM until they're fired and then he bashes them and supports the new GM when they make the same mistakes as the previous GM.Holy shit he still posts here?
Maybe it's the meds! I can't help myself, I just can't whine incessantly. He's the only guy who frequently defends this mess. Part of me wonders is he's a paid shill for the organization. What's funny is he calls this a rebuild, yet Briere has only moved on from five roster players. What a great rebuild it's been!!!!
It's really not all that difficult to see that Briere and the entire Flyers organization is a complete screw up. Starting at the top with their absurd front office triumvirate. Which has resulted in Tortorella being the guy who is really in charge.Maybe it's the meds! I can't help myself, I just can't whine incessantly.
I'm an incorrigible optimist.
I support every GM until they F--up, after which they're soon fired. So yes, that's correlated!
That's b/c you usually don't know if they've screwed up for a few years.
Hextall started strong, CF got them the best record in a decade . . .
The only veterans Briere kept were TK, Laughton and Seeler. Added Hathaway and Johnson.
Inherited Couts, DeLo and Risto's contracts and Sanheim's extension
DeLo and Johnson are buried, and soon gone.
Laughton and Risto are a good bet to be gone before the draft.
Laughton probably should have been dealt last summer, but they didn't know if Cates could play center, Rizzo was a year or two away and nothing else in LHV.
So TK, Seeler and Hathaway.
It's doubtful anything they got for TK last summer would equal his current value as a top 1st line RW, a late 1st, 2nd and "B" prospect (see Meier). They're lucky to have kept both him and Sanheim.
Seeler might have gotten you a late 3rd. He's the best partner for Drysdale, if that helps Drysdale develop, it's worth at least as much. Term is too long, but there will be buyers in a year.
Hathaway would have gotten maybe a 4th, 4th line forwards just don't garner much.
They extended him b/c last summer they didn't have anyone in the organization they saw as a year away to replace him. Better to have a kid beat him out in a year or two than a gaping hole.
I'm less worried about strategy than implementation. Don't care if they don't tank.
As long as Briere refrains from spending real assets (big long-term contract or top picks/prospects) on veterans, I'm fine.
But trading assets for Eric Johnson does make sense?MM is having his minutes limited b/c he's struggling, it's obvious he's hit the "rookie wall." The six days off should help him, but he's only 19, and not used to a NHL schedule. I think Chicago is overworking Bedard playing him 19 minutes a game and setting him up for injury. When you're rebuilding why ride a star prospect into the ground?
This is the last 20 or so games last season redux.
Yes, they make too many mistakes, but that's due to both inexperience and Tort's NOT being a defensive coach, he's encouraging them to take risks this season, a lot more cross ice passes. Learn to walk (last season) then run, but they're stumbling a lot.
Briere will make moves, but there's zero reason for him to rush into deals, with these goaltenders, the playoffs are unreachable. That was always the issue - and it's obvious the Hart thing completely blindsided them - they were hoping to work in Ersson over a couple season, not rush him as a starter.
So why not go get a veteran goaltender - they have the assets to get an average one - maybe give up a 2nd and 3rd - because they're rebuilding, trading assets to finish with 85-90 points instead of 75-80 points doesn't really make sense.
Regular Joe's on this very forum put 2 and 2 together when Hart's statement on the matter was different from others on the team when it was still a rumour who was actually involved. They’re morons if the Hart thing completely blindsided them.
Anecdotal evidence.I've seen plenty of East-West passing this year.
It's being extremely kind and generous to label it anecdotal.Anecdotal evidence.
Didn't even pick up a serviceable veteran in the Provorov deal.
TBF Sean Walker was more than serviceable. Deady's record remains as flawless as Chuck's.Sean Walker?
I’m one of those regular Joe’s and I don’t know shit about f***.But trading assets for Eric Johnson does make sense?
Also MM is 20 now.

But sure. The team was blindsided.
At the time he was a salary dump, 3rd pair veteran coming off a knee injury and a pending UFA.Sean Walker?
I agree 100% with the opposite of this.MM is having his minutes limited b/c he's struggling, it's obvious he's hit the "rookie wall." When they traded Walker, they were sorta giving up on the season, you don't trade your top D-man if you're serious about a PO run.
You keep telling yourself that and believing that this organization will get it right.Maybe it's the meds! I can't help myself, I just can't whine incessantly.

Oh come on people. EVERY player in the NHL and all the management knew who the players involved were. It was well known within the community, and by a lot of journalists who held their fire for when the charges were finally dropped. But trading assets for Eric Johnson does make sense?
Also MM is 20 now.
Regular Joe's on this very forum put 2 and 2 together when Hart's statement on the matter was different from others on the team when it was still a rumour who was actually involved.

Who knows? So far so good. You keep telling yourself that and believing that this organization will get it right.
No on will know if it was the right move until years from now, to pretend you do already is pure fabrication....made the right move with TK.
You are not a serious person if you truly believe that. The Provorov trade is one of the best in Flyer history
Oh I agree. The Provorov trade ranks right up there with the Recchi for Desjardins, LeClair and Dionne trade. Right up there with the trade for Mark Howe. You've got to be kidding me! LMAOWho knows? So far so good.
Got lucky with Sanheim, made the right move with TK.
The Provorov trade is one of the best in Flyer history, ended up with (2) 1sts (2) 2nds, Grans for Provorov, 5th rd pick and $9M in cap room (Peterson, Johansson). Throw in the 4th to replace Walker.
Hasn't done much else, Laughton was the only other real opportunity to add assets and he's probably going to be moved by summer (having a better season, so probably nothing lost). Seeler and Hathaway, meh, minor deals. No problem keeping them for a couple years given the lack of immediate help in the pipeline.
Going forward? We'll see. This summer will be key, who they draft, who they trade.
The Flyers are one of the few major sports teams who thinks they can build a winning culture without actually winning. Reality is that it's a just a talking point and marketing ploy that they try and sell to their mostly gullible fan base.Konecny/Sanheim with retention, pre extension would have been solid moves.
Same for Couturier.
Moving Laughton not waiting for the lowest possible return.
They have had plenty of chances to maximize asset return, and improve draft position. Just have chosen to not do so.
Has keeping those 4 really helped develop a winning culture, or the development of the current youngsters?
They have hung on to Frost, and Farabee when it’s clear they have zero future with the Flyers. Waited until their value has essentially been cratered.
They moved a malcontent, and PR problem in Provorov. Catered to Torts, and got rid of Hayes. Even as a retool, the moves they have made are lazy AF.
Precisely! Tortorella and his great culture have been here for 199 games, 84-87-28, for a .492 WP. There's a culture here but it isn't a winning one. It's one of mediocrity. They don't have the players or cap space to be a base for a FA built club that could contend and they refuse to put the club in the hands of someone who will play the young guys and build up from the bottom. In other words, they are a fraud to the fan base. The Flyers are one of the few major sports teams who thinks they can build a winning culture without actually winning.
