Post-Game Talk: #35 - 04/01/2013 | Winnipeg Jets @ New York Rangers | 7:00 PM - Goals! Hobbitses!

I know it's really not a big deal, but I'm getting pretty infuriated by everyone on MSG network and all the beat writers tweeting that Hank just tied Eddie with 267. No! Eddie has 266 wins as a Ranger (if you guys remember, Richter passed Eddie with his 267th win in that OT win against Toronto way back when, with Leetch scoring the game winner).

Finding it hard to believe that everyone is making that mistake, when it's really easy to double check by looking at his stats...unless everyone is playing a massive April Fools joke on me...

Poor first period. Good rest of the game. Wish we had Zucc the whole year. Makes a big difference. Very skilled playmaker.

Just got home from the game so I'm gonna toss in my take (sorry if this is repetitive of what people have been saying)

Derek Stepan was the best Rangers forward tonight. I know Cally had 4 points, got 1st star and the Broadway Hat, but all of the little plays Step made outweighed any additional points Cally had on him. Stepan was better in the neutral zone, cycling the puck and he made some gorgeous passes.

I noticed McD was out of position a few too many times, but man can this guy skate. No matter when he was out of position he made up for it in 3-4 strides. It was incredible. I always knew had good his skating was, but this is the closest I have been to the action since he's been apart of the team and I was amazed.

While I'm happy the Rangers picked up 2 big points, it was not a reassuring win for me. Stepan, Nash and Cally scored. Great. I know those guys are good. I want to see some depth scoring. Someone else needs to score besides those 3 and Hagelin.

P.S. I met Adam Graves tonight. I was like a giddy little school girl around him. He was so down to earth and such a nice guy. Took a pic with him. It was awesome. Totally reconfirmed why I loved him growing up.

Honestly, not sure if someone else brought it up, but I thought Callahan could have passed it to Zuccarello who had a wide open net to shoot into. Oh well. Still a beautiful play.

Callahan and Nash on a line are great because through the defensive and neutral zone, Callahan is much better along the right side boards, but on the rush and in the neutral zone, Cally is better on the left and Rick is better on the right. You can see they really didn't mind swapping at times.

Great, exciting, well-played game tonight, and the win was well deserved.

Still...................I understand the man-love Tortorella has for Boyle, but why is Taylor Pyatt playing. Skates like an old lady, can't hit the net, no, couldn't score on an open net (like Richards?), too slow defensively.

I thought Kreider made a nice defensive play in the first period, then he sits almost the whole game. How the h**l is he going to learn or succeed playing on the fourth line or even the third line with guys who don't have a chance of scoring.

Why not at least play Asham for Pyatt?

I thought the biggest thing tonight was that the Gaborik-Richards-Zuc line played very well and was engaged. Even though they didn't score any goals, they took some of the pressure off the first line so that line had a little more room to operate. You saw the results.

I'll admit, I was pretty pissed off at the end of that first period. But I nearly pooped myself when Callahan scored that second goal. It was an important win

I don't want to sound neg... But I'm not convinced.

Played sporadic, and at times were pinned in our zone... Trademarks of this squad. Giving up the quick goal afte they thought they "won the game 19 secs in" was a dead giveaway to me.

What changed? Cally w and amazing indiv effort and Nash (for the most part) likewise.

If they don't start beating teams with "team" play... They'll get shutdown.

I don't think anyone here is convinced after one win with the season the Rangers have had.

We need another depth Dman pretty bad IMO.
This makeshift bottom pairing may fly in the regular season, but will be exposed in the playoffs. And Torts will be forced to overwork top 3 until they run out of gas again.

Definitely. Eminger-Hamrlik isn't even cutting it right now.

Getting Staal back would help too.

The team played like absolute **** in the first period, that first shift aside, but they really rebounded and played a terrific third.

Please send JT Miller down to the Whalepack. He doesn't belong in the NHL yet.

how much longer is Stepan going to keep this pace going? Richards better step up before Stepan cools off

Staal would help, but Eminger/Stralman should be the #6/#7 D. I don't think they have been consistent enough. Problem is getting a top 4 D is expensive as we see.
I'd make a play for McBain/Demers ... borderline top4 and hope for the best If, yeah it is a big if, the price is reasonable enough.

so frustrating. Have been searching high and low on the net and no word on Staal. WTF.
I would imagine he has to be back before the season ends??? We can't survive with Hamrlik back there.

Haven't read the thread yet, don't want to be too excited about the win. However, I just got back from the game and it was a great game to be at. Stepan was awesome, Cally's toe dragging goal was straight filth and Nasher with the snipe. I enjoyed it! Let's go rangers, please play like this in every game!

Also, look how few pages this thread has reached after a win! Half as many as after losses. Wow haha. We panic when we lose and ***** all night, and when we win everyone is just like...ok.
