wait wait wait. Didn't Henrik get rolled at the beginning of last year and Quinn had to have a talk with his players about protecting their own?

Smith and McKegg are literally horrible hockey players. They play hard, great, but it doesn't really lead to anything and their offensive skills are at a AHL level. I'd rather just role with the punches of a 4th line of Kravstov - Andersson - Kakko and let them play for 11 minutes a game rather than have Kakko playing with the other 2 scrubs.

And frankly, that’s something that is a beef for me with Quinn. I would’ve loved to have seen Andersson and Kakko together. Maybe with a guy like Lemieux on their left. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But I don’t know that it doesn’t work. What I do know is that McGeneric and Smith are not, and never will be, part of the solution here.

Jobbed by the refs and a star performance from the backup. We're due at least one of these a season.

Can't be mad about tonight when evaluating the team, though. We're a half-inch and an unrepeatable backspin away from a 2-1 lead in a game wherein we're dominating the other team; Kreider, Chytil, and Buchnevich were all fantastic, bullying their way to the front of the net repeatedly and owning the puck on the cycle -- each could have a goal or two; at this point smart money says Panarin is a 100pt player this year; and if we play like that we'll win a lot more than we lose.

All that said, to see 1) DeAngelo get decked from behind in a dangerous play, 2) Buchnevich get elbowed straight to the skull, 3) Fast get mugged while the ref was literally inches away watching, and then 4) Lemieux get his misconduct (?!!?) as the end result was nauseatingly bad.

Like, I was ashamed to be a hockey fan. I was just explaining to my roommate the other night how in hockey referees kind of call games 'as they see them' and that it added another variable to an already unpredictable sport. I was saying it as though it were a positive -- so once again, I'll hold this L. Probably my fault :ha:

Refs were truly on another level tonight.
  • Only a 2 min minor for Ellis' hit on Buchnevich.
  • Fast for holding after being cross-checked 4 times while down on the ice.
  • Lemieux 10-minute misconduct for love tapping a player.
Banner night for officiating, IMO

Adam Fox is a God.

Also, "Let's Go Preds" chants were louder. Embarrassing
Typical MSG. Our arena being Weenie Hut Jr has a lot to do with the lack of Cups.

Also, I am incredibly disappointed by how underwhelming Chester's Spot (TM) was.

I could have made better 'Mac and Cheetos' at home if I actually gave a damn.

the Buch elbow had 5 min major written all over it. (Was it our fault Buch didn't hollywood the hit and lie on the ground?) I can understand not getting a retaliation penalty thinking you are going on a 5 min PP, if I knew straight up we were only getting a minor, I would go Ovechkin Bongos on Ellis' head.

Nobody. Not voting for anyone.

I always vote for Panarin every game just on principal but I hear what your saying.

Tough to win games in the NHL when the zebras are f***ing with you as bad as they did tonight.

I'm not going to get to worked up about this. Nashville was a desperate team not having won in awhile...we were coming back from a long west coast road trip which always bodes bad for the first game back at home. Combine that with the fact as we all know the refs were abominable you have a result like tonight.

As Bill Belechik would say "On to Toronto". But what about the refs? "On to Toronto"...lol

Did people really not like Georgiev's game? Ideally he should have had the 2nd one, but I thought he was pretty good overall.
1st one was an unlucky deflection of Skjei, 2nd was a damn good shot but savable, 3rd was a guy coming basically all alone after a terrible turnover. Other than that he wasn't tested much but did everything he needed to do

I agree with this. I also get that Fast is a good utility guy who can play anywhere, but he’s a prototypical good 4th liner. Put McKegg between Smith and Fast, play them 8 minutes a game and stop putting an anchor on nearly every line. What did we see, McKegg playing with Chytil and Buch tonight? That’s sure to be productive. Smith with Kakko and Howden. Sure those two kids are struggling right now, but Smith sure as shit isn’t a solution. And Fast is just not a guy who should be on your top line. Put those three on a 4th line where they belong and make 3 lines from Panarin/Z/Strome, Kreider/Chytil/Buch, Lemmy/Howden/Kakko. Stop saddling every line with a black hole. What is this “strategy” from Quinn? Spread the suck? How about just contain it to a bottom line that gets bottom minutes?

Kakko has to be sent down. He's useless out there at this point. Outside of maybe Howden (who I think should've been sent down a long time ago), he was the worst player on the ice.

I'm not adverse to this suggestion. Yeah it would suck but it might be the best thing for him for now. Look how Chytil responded. My only issue with this is that I'm not sure unlike Chytil who has no problems with his skating or stamina, I'm not sure Kakko at this point is a good enough skater right now even if he went to Hartford.

Its might take an offseason of power skating lessons and training for his skating to improve to the point where it's even at a decent level let alone a superior level. All you have to do is look at Lemieux who's skating and speed this year has morphed compared to last year. It's very noticeable at least to me it is, how much better Lemieux is offensively this year and alot of it has to do with his improved speed and skating.

I mean it's so blatantly obvious Kakko can't keep up and it's been going on since the beginning of the season. He looks gassed after 20 seconds and the only time he really is effective is on the PP when he can kind of glide along the half wall.

I dunno it's a tough call as he's only 18 and I'm still supremely confident he will be a major factor in our success in the coming years but maybe a stint in Hartford wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for his development where he can gain a little confidence as well.

It’s almost like he has a slight groin injury and nobody is saying anything.
