And guess who is AV's boss? Cigarface.

Sather calls the shots. After Sather signed Lundqvist to that contract he was saying Lundqvist is the face of the franchise, it's still his team, and Lundqvist will still be here long after AV is gone. So, if AV knows whats good for him, he needs to play ball with Sather.

Even IF Lundqvist was abysmal the rest of the year, he would still be the undeniable starter, because Sather would refuse to admit he made a mistake giving Lundqvist that contract, and AV would still need to play ball.

And get back to me when Talbot has one challenging game. His shutouts against MTL and NSH were as easy as they come. Lundqvist gets more challenged in net by the SABRES. I'm not high on Talbot yet because I haven't seen him truly "tested." When the Rangers played one mediocre game in front of him he let up four goals, and two of them were extremely stoppable. Even his game against the Canucks where he was peppered with 37 shots, he faced limited chances, and it was a pretty easy game. I'd love to see Talbot start one game like the one last night against the Capitals, or a game against the Penguins or Bruins where they get legitimate chances. Fans will be signing a very different tune than.

Secondly, Lundqvist is the starter. He shouldn't have to sit once every three games for Talbot. Lundqvist has never had to do that his entire career. And after signing Lundqvist to that contract, Sather gave Lundqvist a vote of confidence that this is still his team.

A work horse who is used to play 10 games in a row before getting a night off won't benefit from getting a rest every 2-3 games for Talbot.

And secondly, if Talbot started, it would be just another game where he faces limited chances, and everyone would be riding high on him to sit Henrik.

Give Lundqvist the easy game for a change. He hasn't had too many of them. He can use an "easier" night. And I don't think this will be as easy as that shutout Talbot got against them, but if the Rangers can manage to play even average defense, this game should be ten times easier than Lundqvist's last star against the Capitals. Let him build up a little confidence against these offensive inept teams instead of always giving Talbot the go for a 15-20 save shutout.

Also, I can't believe people still have the audacity to think ANY will be "easy" for the 15-16 Rangers.

Define lit up. Right now Lundqvist is #21 out of 44 in SV%. Furthermore, he ranks 13th for all starters starting in over 20 games. That is in the upper 50%, so it is still statistically above average. That's not lit up. Poulin has been lit up. Dubnyk has been lit up. Not Lundqvist.

People have a problem that Lundqvist has been an average starter this year rather than a Vezina finalist. You're seeing what the team looks like without a top-3 goaltender in the world on the team.

I agree that Hank had som lackluster perfomances so far but that is just hyperbole.

Do you know what his November numbers were? Let me tell you:

2.27 GAA .924 sv%. Terrible. Just awful. That was in 11 games, by the way. Our offense gave him 5 wins.

Do you see how the team is playing in front of him?

Henrik Lundqvist is the only goalie in the world when posting a 2.58 GAA is absolutely railed by his fan base. Is it good enough? No, of course not. Is he playing to an elite level? No, not every night.

Does he give the Rangers a better chance to win night in and night out than Talbot?

Not only that, but the team has scored about 0.75 less G/GM with Lundqvist in net. Hasn't Lundqvist started all five times the Rangers have been shutout? That's an automatic five losses for him, where he could literally do nothing about. People talk about Lundqvist letting in the soft goals, as if his team has given him much support in return.
 
Teams are figuring out that our weakness is back ups and third string goalies.

Not this season. He doesn't have a single statistic superior to Talbot in 2013-14. Not even shutouts.

I'm sick and tired of the excuses and about how the team is playing in front of him. They've certainly been bad in front of him but he's been at least an equal contributor to the suckage.

November was great, true. But October was mediocre and December has been one brutal goal after another. He can't show up every other month for the money we're giving him. For the money we're giving him he has to dominate consistently, like other players making 8.5 (Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin)

Again, talk to me when Talbot plays a "great" game. And no, it's not facing 25 perimeter shots while your team controls the offensive zone for the majority of the game.

Secondly, players like Malkin are extremely streaky. Malkin has had years where he didn't even produce at an elite level. Same with Ovechkin, so that's not the best example.
