“@stevezipay: G Carter Hutton will start for Preds vs #NYR Henrik Lundqvist tonight at MSGâ€

well at least he was in the ECHL in 2011-2012 season... another shutout for the former ECHL goalie :help:

I'll admit, I added the Hutton kid to my fantasy roster for tonight.

Hopefully we can break this horrible trend we have against new unheralded goalies. Andersen doesn't count because he's a stud, but Mike Brodeur sure did.

Ducks will be in a position soon like the Kings. i bet they keep Andersen and trade Hillier once they found a taker for him

Ever since Talbot got two starts in a row and AV had to answer questions about it, we haven't seen him.
Could it have something to do with the last game Talbot played, maybe?

Do you honestly believe that AV was surprised by all the questions after starting Talbot that 2nd straight game?

So Talbot rides the pine for one soft goal while Hank continues to give up two every night? That's fair.

Just pointing out that since then, we haven't seen Talbot.

Or they just gave Hank huge money and need to get him going. Hard to do that from the bench

Or it could be that it is time to let Hank play through his "slump" as history showed us time after time that he really thrives under heavy work load.

Little-known fact about Talbot, he's less established than Lundqvist. Why should they be treated the same?

No you're not just pointing that out. You're saying the two are directly related.

We're over 30 games in now and one goalie is severely outplaying the other. I think Talbot needs more starts if that's what's helping us win hockey games.

And it's either that, or the contract is forcing AV's hand. Talbot was getting a start every week, and now it suddenly stops.

It absolutely is contract related.

The contract said Hank is the face of the franchise and it rests on his shoulders to get the team to the playoffs.

AV can't give a goalie that type of responsibility and money then not play him

AV didn't gave anybody that type of responsibility and money. Cigarface did.

I agree but i dont think AV had anything to do with that.

Edit: Machine got to the ball 1st!

You're a good mod and poster...

Ever since Talbot got two starts in a row and AV had to answer questions about it, we haven't seen him.

Talbot let up two soft goals in the loss. One snap shot through the five hole and one soft shot through the arm.

Secondly, Lundqvist is the starter. He shouldn't have to sit once every three games for Talbot. Lundqvist has never had to do that his entire career. And after signing Lundqvist to that contract, Sather gave Lundqvist a vote of confidence that this is still his team.

A work horse who is used to play 10 games in a row before getting a night off won't benefit from getting a rest every 2-3 games for Talbot.

And secondly, if Talbot started, it would be just another game where he faces limited chances, and everyone would be riding high on him to sit Henrik.

Give Lundqvist the easy game for a change. He hasn't had too many of them. He can use an "easier" night. And I don't think this will be as easy as that shutout Talbot got against them, but if the Rangers can manage to play even average defense, this game should be ten times easier than Lundqvist's last star against the Capitals. Let him build up a little confidence against these offensive inept teams instead of always giving Talbot the go for a 15-20 save shutout.

Uh, or maybe it was because Talbot got absolutely lit up in his last start?

No, no, can't be that.
