Y’all are too sensitive lol.. I’d much rather be apart of a 1 in a million bizarre game like this than continue beating up on these crappy northern division teams. We will finish first or second in the division. The real season starts after that.

Anyhow.. Ottawa has some nice young talent. I’ll be rooting for them not to finish last

Just watched the game. This is so incredibly depressing. What a horrible way to start the day. I really cannot believe what I just saw happening against one of the worst teams in the league. It really is a case of Maple Leaf-fan PTSD that at 5-3 I was already fearing the worst, only to see those fears come true. Thank god I have another hour before my first meeting, because I think I am ready to scream at my colleagues over minor issues.

I have been saying this for years and I'm impartial on Andersen... I've never seen a goalie worse on breakaways.... It's laughable at this point. I wonder what the problem is in that aspect of his game.

I think this is the right attitude. This year is a one off for a generation so I think it’s best to just sit back and enjoy, and we’ll all litigate the shit out of it when it’s normal again.

Classic leafs. Tavares gives them life with his beautiful and unnecessary assisst on the shortie and we break down. In OT Rielly should have passed it to Matthews then we still win.

Hope they learn from it and don't stop playing with a comfortable lead again.
 
I turned it off when the Leafs were up 5-1 to watch a movie with my Girlfriend. WTF happened. reminds me of the good old day. Why Ottawa, the worst team in the league. makes no sense.

Willy looked pretty good. It's time to start running an intermittent big three top line.

Time to give Vesey a few games in the pressbox, he was directly responsible for two goals against and he's not contributing anything offensively, Engvall and Boyd with goals.

None of the goals on Freddy were bad (maybe the first) but he's clearly fatigued.

Outside of Brodie and Holl a not great night for the D.

We were lethal offensively for the first 39 minutes but sloppy throughout defensively and we still got a point but that should never have been close.

On Ottawa, that Studzilla is gonna be a star, good grab.

Hogberg looked like a gongshow in the first but settled in.

Nice to see Connor Brown get a goal, seems like he's in the leadership group for them, good for him.

Thomas Chabot looks like a young Pietrangelo.

They have a nice young group of solid depth guys - Norris, White, Batherson and so on - but they need a few more stars.

Yeah, agreed with all of these. Like, I would have liked to have seen at least 1 big save from Freddy, but the team really was leaving him out to dry from the late 2nd onwards, giving the Sens absolutely prime scoring chances. Tavares did have some major yikes moments.

The problem is finding a replacement. If there’s an elite 50+ point d-man that plays strong defence that makes only 5 million let me know because if we can find a 5 million dollar Josi I’d gladly ship out Rielly to make room for that player.
 
That was embarrassing. I'd say typical Leafs but how can it be, with all the additions and subtractions to the roster over the last few seasons.
How do you lose a 5-1 lead?
I actually had a gut feeling the sens would tie the game when it went 5-3 but Matthews would win it with a hatty, but what do I know?
I dont criticise people that are clearly better than myself at something but I hope they're beating themselves up and come back with a point to prove.

This team reeks of complacency or even entitlement for some reason. They need to get back to work.

Pretty brutal attitude from Keefe that he didn't feel secure going into the 3rd period with a 3 goal lead against the worst team in hockey, and that he also didn't bother to do anything about it. That sends a pretty bad message

The problem is it happened last game not to the same extent.
They stopped skating in the 3rd period .

I like how we come out in the first period .
We need to come out with the same fire in the 3 rd.

The problem is we will have to resign him In 2 yrs .

To me Justin Holl has surpassed him and only getting better .

If we are going to trade him this summer is the time to do it.

You can play just about any top-4 D in Rielly's minutes and he'll score 40+ just making D to D passes on the PP and breakout. We don't need an offensive genius back there, just someone who can make a first pass and hold the line. A non-muffin shot is gravy.
 
for me its all on Fred
the team made him look decent in the past few weeks
and the team in front of him still played good
but if your goalie can not stop a freakin beachball
to be honest i feel confident in the team minus Fred
