We played more than well enough to win tonight. As I said in the GDT, I'm not one of the blame every loss on Andersen guys, but I don't know how anyone can watch that game and not realize he was outplayed by the backup up the worst team in the league and be remotely okay with that. He made basically no saves one would call better than routine. We needed a big save somewhere tonight and as has been the case so often the last year or so it simply wasn't there.

To me that's been Andersen's entire career as a Leaf. Alot of routine saves with some good ones here and there and a rare spectacular one once in a blue moon. It always pissed me off that many Toronto sports media personalities would CONSTANTLY pump Freddie's tires where every decent save made by him is a great one and where every game he played well was a great performance by him.

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again. Leafs aren't ever going to get far in the playoffs with Andersen as their #1 goalie.

timeout when? they werent getting outplayed 5v5, ottawa wasnt coming at them in waves. i dont see what a timeout would have done. he said in the post game he gave them a talking to in the 2nd intermission. not the coaches fault at all imo, if i were to blame keefe for anything it would have been maybe to mix up the lines that clearly werent working.
Anytime you score 5 the lines are just fine. I'll take 5 goals a game but we do need another goalie.

Ugly, ugly losses like this are precisely the ones you remember when your team's sent packing at the end of the season, and you're looking for the early signs of trouble in the season.

It was the same last year with the zamboni game.

you remember them but they are not decisive. Each year, there is a probability that even SC winner has some ugly losses

We've been giving Andersen a lot of games recently and this may be an indication to ease up on him a bit

Give Hutchinson a game, give Andersen a couple of days rest and see if he can get back to the form he had been showing this season

We played pretty well, lost our composure late but we couldn't get a stop so your going to get that

Disappointed but not discouraged is how I'd describe the way I feel about the team right now

hmm JT needs to take some accountability here, his post game was dissapointing..he's the captain. he needs to call himself out and say he played horrible and that type of loss is inexcusable.
Let me guess, "we" need to be better?
Find out what color jersey you're wearing and pass to guys with the same color.

The next 3 games this week are now pretty big. We’ll get see where this team truly stands. Adversity now is key.
No we won the next 3 after Andersen lost to the Zamboni.

This doesn't mean shit. Andersen needs to go.

This statement is exactly why we have been treading on thin ice all season. I'm not saying the sky is falling, but if they can't figure out how to put in a solid 60 minutes, there better be some major moves in the off season. We may make it out of the North on skill alone, but the minute we play any of the perennial contenders down south, it's over. Es specially, when efforts like tonight's are becoming the norm and not the exceptions...

I hope they're all embarrassed in that dressing room. I know I am.

We're one of the best ES teams in the league this month and the whole "weak division" thing is BS and always was. I've been giving Ottawa props for a while for their solid play this season as their goaltending and scoring finish gas let them down. They are gonna be a real deal team in not too long and would be more than a couple points higher if they had a Helle or Markstrom in net.

It feels rough now, yea, but that wasn't one of Ottawas better games this year. They got the bounces and won though as its a bit of Karma for them.

Leafs will bounce back next game. Just play the same game and don't get loose goosey if your up a few goals.

Last 2 games have been vintage leafs. Get absolute abused by Montreal and get run out of the rink with your tail between your legs. Tonight we watch a 21 year old come in, run Freddie and then speed bag Jake Muzzin. This team is soft

I understand your point.

And my point is, if the skaters put in a honest effort in this game or any other, we can beat anyone... they have yet to show me they are willing to do what it takes to limit opponents chances.

Its awfully strange when the team plays hard, Fred is able to make 1 or 2 big saves. They go hand in hand. One cannot be the savior. Despite how much they suck, the Sens are still an NHL team and if you do not match their effort you leave yourself exposed.

If Fred make 2 saves and we win 5-4... we still played like complete ass and will never win anything playing like that. Even if Fred is the best goalie in the league.

Except we didn't play like ass tonight so that doesn't stack up.

Tavares has been invisible the last 10 games. Perhaps he is really slowing down now at 30 y/o.

Andersen is just blah. That was one embarrassing game!

Im sorry, but the cute plays, atrocious giveaways, missed d coverages, the constant icings which is a pure indication you are being hemmed in.. sorry that needs a timeout.. play with purpose.. these guys play reckless and careless even when up a single goal. The coach is definitely to blame here alongside the play of that garbage goalie we have. Let me repeat, WE HAVE A GARBAGE GOALIE.
the "cute plays" are absolutely no indication we were being hemmed in, they are more of an indication that we were probably a bit too overconfident. the icings had 0 to do with pressure, just boneheaded plays. hyman had all the space in the world to carry the puck as far as he wanted yet just heaved it in. its not like ottawa was coming shift after shift and we allowed 3 in a short period of time and were being overwhelmed. we played well, then mistake, then had a bunch of shifts in their end then mistake...these guys arent babies, blaming keefe for this makes 0 sense to me.

We were winning in spite of Fred. He hasn't played well other than once and he wasn't lights out that game he just played well.

I most certainly would not go that far. Andersen has been very good here. The problem as I see it personally is that he has regressed

he didnt even really say that, man sometimes i miss guys like tucker and domi that would come out and say "we played like dogsh*&" accepting that type of defeat that easily doesnt sit well with me.

Time to bring back this beauty

Don't know how you could watch this game from the middle of the 2nd to close and come away with Andersen singlehandedly losing the game lol. Our skaters were ass from 4-1 to OT.

You can't blow a 4 goal lead without more than one person filling their diaper. This team is an orchestra that's penned symphonies of ineptitude year in year out, wasn't any different tonight.

Absolutely we did. Its was just that the Sens were worse. I thought we were terrible all over the ice. Lose with the puck and even more lose with our defensive coverage. Just because our talent scored some goals doesn't mean we were playing well. Anyway, everyone has to be better. Its not like the Sens are a powerhouse that stormed back with an amazing effort, we laid an egg.

The only way we lose this game is if the players let it happen... The Sens are not nearly good enough to dictate a game against us.

The thing that pisses me off about him is that he never shows any emotion. He is just sort of robotic. Not sure he inspires much in this team.
