Toronto now up to the 2nd best 5v5 xGF% and the still the best 5v5 goal differential in February. Take the point, make some adjustments and keep on going
But be honest; the North is a BS division. Stats don't mean squat when you are leading the worst of the 4 divisions.

What was it during the 3rd?

Yup, Leafs were the better 5v5 team in the third, and even when throwing in all situations (and the Sens 4 min PP), the Leafs are still ahead. Massive point blank saves on Matthews and company. Good showing by the Sens keeper the third frame.

This would feel much worse to me if the team was actually the worse team tonight...but they wernt.

at the end of the day when you dont respect your opponent, these things happen. in hockey any team can win on any given night so you need to treat your opponent with respect, this aint basketball.

these guys just got brought down a few pegs, it might end up being a really good thing for them. go out the next 2 games and show what team you really are!

edit: to be clear i didnt think they were outplayed, just didnt seem to take the sens seriously enough.

I can’t believe all the people who continually make excuses for this team! What a joke! A 5-1 lead, and give up two goals in the second period to make the score 5 to 3, and the third goal a shorthanded one by Ottawa partly due to a boneheaded play by Tavares. And then to get out scored in the third yet again, and icing on the cake, lose it in overtime. I just can’t wait to hear all the clichés from the players about what happened tonight. This team needs a shake up. But thanks to Dubas and how tight we are to the cap, that is very likely not to happen.

I think it was too much respect that really got the ball rolling for the Sens.

The Leafs were settling in to their "dont celebrate in a blowout and put lesser players on the PP" mode and the Sens dont stop playing. Just took a few bounces and its a game from there.

I say keep pounding them into the ground.

ye i wasnt a fan of that move either, made no sense to me.
but i still think what i said has truth, nothing shows respect for an opponent like trying to destroy them. up 5 - 1 vs boston or TB u think keefe puts that pp unit on the ice? i highlyyyyy doubt it.

I’ve said this the last few years. I don’t want to be over dramatic over the loss but are the leafs just mentally weak. If so how do they break this?

Meh it’s one game and we got a point. Move on, step off the ledge
I'd say that too if we lost a tight one, but we were up 5-1. There are loses and then there are these kinds of loses that the leafs do too often. They got no choice but to move on, but it's embarrassing. If they don't come out with their best and most cohesive game of the season Wednesday, I'd question their character.
