I disagree with this. No team who ascended did so with keeping a lineup of entry level contract children for 5+ years.

Good thing we have some useful veterans like Panarin, Zibanejad, etc.

We lack top talent still.

When I play my franchise in NHL 22 and a player's morale gets low and he loses like 15 attribute points in his ratings, that's what this franchise did to Alexis LaFreniere.

We lack experience, not talent, ultimately. However, I do believe Chytil and the Strome situation is a problem. I am not worried about the 3rd pair, that is a placeholder right now in a placeholder year. But Chytil REALLY worries me as that throws things for a loop. Krav too to an extent. It can be overcome and we can do it IN SPITE of the misses with Fil and Krav, but it will be harder for Drury and Gallant that's for sure.

Running off Kravtsov and importing win now pieces like Goodrow and Blais?

Re-signing Kreider when a mammoth haul that could have been used to acquire a legit long term center was on the table?

Gonna re-sign Strome to handicap our future even further?

They gave up zero picks or prospects and Kravs did that to himself. It's ok to try to get better. Goodrow was a piece this team needed although slightly overpaid. Buch was never going to resigned at 6 mil per so they got what they could and gained an extra pick and Blais is a good player. That is not accelerating the rebuild. Kreider has played well and has double the goals of anybody else on the team. It's ok to sign good players and have vets on the team. You can't have a team of 22yo's running around. We don't know about Strome. You make it seem like they gave up top picks and prospects for a Patrick Kane.

Part of the issue is Laf and Kakko completely underperforming all reasonable expectations. I can’t fault the club building out a roster Kakko and Laf in the top six.

Their defense isn't that good but then again you would have to pressure them to make them have to actually defend.
Our defense isn’t that good either though, and the third pair is an abomination. The combination of our defense and #1 goalie gives us the edge in that side of the game but the Avs forward corps is miles better than this team.

No, we lack talent. We are short at least one more high end center plus the successful return of Kravtsov.

The experience will come organically, but we continue to need a couple more long term pieces. Trading Kreider for Jason Robertson and a first, and Buch for Kupari and a first, would have finished off this rebuild with sufficient assets, and we still could have signed Reaves, Hunt, Goodrow, etc.

They accelerated it, you can excuse it if that’s what you wanted, but they have long term needs that they’ve ignored in favor of trying to win now. Passing on huge packages of assets is the same as trading them away ultimately.
