"Let me move the one guy who has obvious chemistry with our second line center. He's collected too many points and needs remediation in the art of playing defense and a perimeter first game. I'll also play him 5 minutes a game. I'll continue doing this after my new boss has repeatedly said that 'we'll look for solutions in house first'."

"we're looking long term here. By only playing Lindblom 2 minutes tonight, he cant score points. and if he cant score points, he cant ask for a huge contract. Long term health of the team. I assure you, im smarter than you guys when it comes to hockey, guys. Afterall, I am canadian. "

That was a bad beat in overtime, but ...

I'm still smiling about Sanheim's breakthrough tonight. That was great.

I'm also thinking (naively?) that Fletch, with his super smart, Harvard-trained brain just had to see that Hak's system is utter bollocks.

It was appropriate that it was 90's night, because Hak's system is built for a bye-gone time.

Those first two periods, when we had nine shots through 35 minutes was some of the ugliest hockey you can watch. All the icings, passes into skates, passes ahead of the intended recipients, dumb penalties, weak box-outs, zero flow isn't going to get this team into the playoffs and won't help sell season tickets.

Fletch has got to see it, right?

Heh I can't even comprehend how funny is the usage of a kid that single handedly got them a point. Development coach great post. Eh

12:38 lololol. In the words of Bill Burr, **** you with your magic

The only way

and i want to stress, ONLY

like - ONLY WAY

Sanheim scores those goals is if Hakstol puts him in a position to succeed, which he did. #Development

Oh look, all our goals came off the transition/rush game. This team has a killer quick strike attack.

Sanheim- I don't know what else he needs to show the coach
  • Poor shot decision, got blocked leading to a rush the other way in the first
  • Beautiful look cross ice to Coots who just couldn't handle it after leading a rush and taking a give and go
  • Worked on the cycle on more than one occasion
  • The goals were both f***ing sweet
Love the coach throwing Hagg and Mac out there after the goal. 1-1. On a goalie goal. Shocking, I know

Konecny: the dude is starting to become a difference maker
  • Centered Giroux on a nifty play, just rolled off his stick
  • Beat a Blue Jacket wide in pretty impressive fashion for a shot-for-rebound which bounced right to the slot. One of his first shifts
  • The chemistry with Giroux is really starting to blossom
Stolarz: really did play well outside of the first goal

Provorov: starting to come around again. There was a few times he chose to carry the puck out instead of forcing a pass to a winger. Confidence is starting to rise...jumping up on more plays. Just looks like he's settling down a little. That pair is going to be fine, I hope they stay together. Ghost made a few good defensive plays too- broke up a 3-2 and another zone entry from what I remember with 2 good pokes.

That Coots flukey goal wasn't a goal, pretty surprising they missed that offside in real time. Regardless, that spin move by Coots was pretty dirty. The refereeing was NHL quality, as usual. This is a good example of a game where penalties killed you even though they didn't give up a PPGA. They outplayed Columbus throughout the game with a bit of a lull two-thirds of the way through the 1st, after taking 2 penalties. Shocking, I know. 2nd period? Shorthanded for half of it. Literally. No flow established at all, and it cost them as they were caught running 2 Chinese fire drills that led to the goals. In the 3rd they stayed out of the box and, shockingly, pushed the play. Loved what was probably the most blatant trip of the season in the entire NHL on Jake that went uncalled.

All that being said about the penalty parade, the PK is looking better and more hungry. Stolarz standing tall. On a final note, all of a sudden in OT they're making these braindead f***ing plays that give the other team what is essentially a penalty shot to end games. Jesus f***ing Christ.

I love Sanheim, G, and Konecny. That is all.
