i've never once contemplated voracek being traded until last night. He was actively hurting us , and you can just see the frustration amounting on the faces of players . Changes need to be made, prudent ones.

Thing I hate about Jake is we have to try and find him the right center, at 8 mill he needs to drive any line he’s on. I would still go back to him with Oskar and Nolan, or at least try JVr Nolan Jake first

i don't hate anything about jake, let me make that clear. I think that line of patrick lindblom jake needs to be utilized again. I also wouldn;t mind seeing a line of JVR coots Jake. That is a diverse line with some different skill sets. It could work.

Keep Jake far away from Patrick, they just don't work well together and it's dragging Patrick down.
Get Patrick a fast RW who can shoot, like TK.

Late to the party, not playing catch-up. I'm sure this has been belabored, but I want to :deadhorse.

So, in one game, with a brand new coach behind the bench, brought in to replace Gordon, and shake up what's left with Lappy, Knob, and the other guy, this Wilson fellow did something that was recently stated on this board as being a horrible option, put Sanheim and Ghost on a pair together.

There are/were(?) a lot of folks who kept harping that Hagg was objectively the more impactful defenseman based on points when compared to Sanheim because of the former's point total (3-7-10) compared to the latter's total (2-6-8), hopefully that will stop soon as Sanheim potted two today and was the missing finisher to secure the patented Loser Point™, a special of the current coaching staff.

So last night was the disappoint, but there were some positives, long live the Travii. This team is still being coached wrong, but hopefully Wilson will tell his boss that everything is shit and more heads should roll.

Chemistry matters on lines, I think Lindblom - Patrick - fast RW is the best option, Patrick and Voracek just look awkward, and Patrick hasn't played well with any other LW. So put together a "kiddie corp" and let them skate.

Sanheim - Ghost only makes sense with offensive zone faceoffs, which is when they were paired, defensively they're a bad combo in their own D-zone.

Trades will be made, this has been the island of misfit toys for two seasons, first we had a talent deficiency, now we have a talent mismatch.

Sanheim - Ghost is a frightening combo in their own zone.

Patrick & Lindblom should be 2/3 of a 3rd line, where the team doesn’t have to rely on them for consistent scoring, & they definitely need a very high speed winger to help offset their slowness.

I don't think they're overrated so much as mismatched.
JVR had Bozak for years in Toronto, now he has Weal/Laughton/Patrick. See a difference?

Voracek was fine with G at center, he started well last year with G & Couts, finished well with Patrick but that looks like the same fluke where Weise and Weal looked good for 15-20 games two years ago. He's a bad fit with Patrick.

Simmonds is playing better, but he needs to be carried through the neutral zone, he's not a good fit without a top center.

Weal is good at puck possession but can't finish even with two scorers on his wings.

Laughton is not a 3C, he's either a LW or a forechecking 4C.
Raffl and Weise forecheck, but both have below par puck and shooting skills.

There's lots of room to make trades without giving up top picks or prospects, I'd make all the forwards available except the 1st line and Lindblom/Patrick, and use later rate picks and 2nd tier prospects to sweeten the deals.

I forgot to mention that after the 1st goal the pair were on the ice for, and immediately preceding the second goal, the pair had a hiccup of sorts in the defensive zone. The broadcasters immediately jumped to the same tired tropes that are spewed on this board about the two being substandard in the defensive zone. The pair quickly, efficiently regained the puck, without any crushing body checks, and slow played a break out, showing extreme confidence in skating and puck control ability, and the use of crisp short passes. As the broadcasters were finishing their thoughts the Flyers had moved the puck out of their own zone, up the ice, into the Columbus zone, where Sanheim scored his second goal in short order. And all the words used about this being an unlikely, desperate pair fell on deaf ears as the crowd erupted at the site of fun hockey, the Flyers being their most dangerous on the rush, with competent offensive defensemen being activated, creating a numbers problem for a returning/backchecking Lumbus team.

Just so many F U's to give out, like candy, or ball-taps, maybe like dollar bills, whatever one's imagination desires I guess.

What are you basing this critique on? I'm only aware of the pair being on the ice as of last night. And they scored two goals without surrendering any. Nor did they get pinned in their own end leading to a Flyers penalty being taken, or other box score detriment.

The talent mismatch is driven by the coach. Changing the talent doesn't fix that issue.

I’m basing it on having watched both players.

What was the score?
Coaches throw combos together for short periods, but that doesn't mean they make sense on a steady basis.

Why is JVR on this team? When will his year begin, because he seems like he's completely lost out there.
Also, why is Lethera and MacDonald still on the active roster? They should be healthy scratches for the remainder of their Flyers careers.
Vorachek has also been out of position constantly! I know he has a no trade clause in his contract

This Vorachek guy might, but Jake Voracek does not. Hextall did not give anyone trade protection.

You say JVR needs to be paired well. He could be paired with a guy you proclaimed will be better than Tavares within a few months, but he isn't.

Do you think that is good coaching?
