  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
I think you completely misunderstood what I was saying.

By depth, I am talking about continuing to stock pile young talents and picks, not the stop-gap players currently on the roster. Specifically, higher-end young talents.

Got it. Ok yes I thought you meant getting more bottom 6 talent.

glad i missed that effort last night.

2 stinkers recently has me concerned. not like phily and the sens are cup contenders. woof.

then again, we lost to LA, Chi. and detroit. we can lose to the worst and beat some decent teams too.

still better than i thought we would be. im choosing to hope for the best and plan for worst like usual.

having said all this, i expect a complete game against the habs and some surprising wins against some pretty solid teams coming up.

Learning not to be overconfident is a big part of learning how to be a good team.

Looks like we took the Sens for granted and it came back to bite us.

It wouldn't be the first time. Reminds me of the Flyers game last week. What a train wreck that was.

I don’t know that they took them for granted. It’s not like they steamrolled them on Tuesday. That was a close game that really could have gone either way.

This next month will be very telling. Imo they’re probably 3-4 points better than they should be, but that also probably evens out in December

Been a total zombie at work all day.. would have been worth it if the players cared 1% as much as we fans do.

Quinn on why Shattenkirk didn't play in the 3rd, "That'll stay between Kevin and I"

Its confirmed Shattenkirk doesn't practice right and is a horrible person.

They might not play well every game but if a team crushes every two games and keeps getting shutout by teams that are ~.500 the last two decades, it might be time to consider committing more to the re-build... not to lose on purpose but you almost wish they would... we're not going to have a spare Nash or McDonagh lying around in March. Time to go to the pier and put the pedal to the medal, as cool as it's been to watch Kreider and Zibanejad become.

I think what you've seen so far is the perfect blend of my line of thinking and @jas line of thinking.

I think this team is a solid bottom 10 team in the nhl when healthy.

@jas thinks that this team has a complete lack of depth to cover up for injuries.

Looks like we were both right . And amazingly no defenseman of consequence are hurt...that's a little scary to think about.

Rangers last night had namestnikov, buchnevich, mza, McLeod, macquaid out.

Now not all of them are pivitol pieces like buch, but once you start getting your 15th and 16th best forwards into the games regularly, you'll see why having superstars to carry you during the lean times is so important....just as it's important to have that depth to carry you when your superstars are out.

Right now the rangers have neither...this is why selling at this deadline has been both @jas and my #1 priority despite both of us having slightly different takes on where and what this team is.

One negative that stands out about this season in particular is that the team not being horrible and winning some games has brought some contentious posters back to the boards, posters who seem to inexplicably disappear every time the team isn't winning. Hmm.

While the players own their share of the blame, I don't think Quinn helped the cause much last night either.

His obsessive line juggling is really getting out of hand and last night was probably the one game where he should've stood back a little and let the players figure it out for themselves IMO.

Strome..Cement him on the 4th line @ center.
It's not a knock on him but he's not a top 6'r and can probably take on a Boyle type role quite effectively and run with it.

Roles really need to be defined already because chemistry with line mates and within the system can't be developed when there's no stability.

There's depth just no tremendous talent.

I post when I can has nothing to do with Ws or Ls....or OTLs or SO Ws :)

I work a lot more so always reading but not posting as much

The team is exactly where I thought they'd be.

Last night's game was one of the few so far this season where they didn't put in a solid effort. That's all that disappoints me.

Stay the course.

yes. yes. yes.

dont care the results so much as i care the effort.

last night didnt seem like anyone cared

this is a process.

not sure if you mean me but trust me, i was never on honeymoon with this team. they're just not that good. NY sports media does this every year where they hype the team's top guys like superstars. it's unfair when people get all down on MZA, for example, for not "playing like a leader." it's just not an immensely talented team... yet.
