Post-Game Talk: #26 - 11/29/18 - 730pm :: RANGERS vs. senators

very very bad. Listless and heartless. Lines being mixed and matched with no cohesiveness

What happened to this team? They had such intensity. The coach is proactive in developing his players and enforces accountability. Is this a coaching issue? Or are we at we at the player level?

intensity definitely wasn't there tonight. Missing 3 top 6/9 guys definitely hurt tonight but can't use that as an excuse. I guess we will see how they rebound on saturday.
I'm sure Quinn will be a decent coach but tonight he was off too. I don't understand juggling the lines like he did and employing the 11/7 system.

They desperately needed Peter Holland and Steven Kampfer tonight

Pretty sure this is sarcasm but it's just my opinion. I hate the 11/7 system. Watching a defensive player trying to forecheck like a chicken running around without its head.
Agreed. 11/7 is garbage hockey. I don't care who's on the roster.

4 lines of 3. 3 pairs of 2. 12/6. That's how math works. That's how hockey works.

I was serious. 11/7 was a disaster at Carolina. It was a disaster tonight.

I wasn’t aware that we went with 11/7. I suppose that’s an adjustment. But, really, keep the lines that work and double shift CK on the fourth. Seems straightforward to me at least.

Ottawa had all the answers this time. It happens. I’ll worry if the same thing happens in Montreal, I guess.
I thought they came out ok but had some bad luck. Second and third periods were pretty sluggish though.

This game was ass tonight. Total waste of 2 hrs and 3 minutes. Losing 3 top 9 guys really hurts and it showed tonight. They are just not good or deep enough to withstand too many injuries. Thats not an excuse, just a fact.

We spend a lot of time talking about skill, and that’s very important. But this team really needs to keep adding depth and that’s where my primary focus is at this point in time.

Now, this is team is particularly hit hard right now, but it does kind of underscore the importance of filling out a roster.

The only positives I took from that game was that Shattenkirk looks to be skating better and Anderson showed he could play on a better line.

Any idea why Shattenkirk didn't play in the 3rd? I didn't notice during the game, but that can't be insignificant, can it?

Any word on if there was an injury? Or is he in Quinn's doghouse, do you think?

Quinn bin.

Kind of what I expected but didn't want to be presumptuous. I can see the stats are pretty unflattering... not just production, but his usage is down by a bit, too.

Do you think he is a trade candidate? I felt he was during the summer but I remember being told by Rangers fans that it was unlikely to be the case. Obviously, a new coach can change a lot (especially one who the team is as committed to as Quinn).

What are peoples feelings on the matter?

I think the Rangers would have a very difficult time trading him at the moment, unless it’s for a similar contract.

Agreed.

If Quinn doesn't have confidence in him, though, it might only get worse the longer they hold onto him.
