Someone younger.
Wouldnt mind that either, just depending on the price. Id rather Yzerman not pay top prices if possible. I just want some sort of upgrade defensively.
Someone younger.
I dont know what I'd offer for him but I wouldnt give up the farm. I like his upside and even if hes not a top 4 guy I'd take him at 6'7 on the 3rd pairI don't think they trade, just MO.
Highest I'd go is:
2025 1st
Chariot(@50%)
Wallinder
Lombardi
And I'm sure Dallas would laugh.
I'd have np with Martinez. Obviously I'd prefer Miller, hague, bichsel etc....Someone younger.
Many others have said it, but another 3rd pair defenseman is needed.
Edvinsson is slumping abit. Need to have a 3rd pair that is reliable enough to pick up some slack when the 2 rookies struggle. Which they will from time to time, being rookies and all.
Yeah, this is the issue with a rookie pair even if they are good, they will make mistakes and without another better option to spell them when they struggle it can get bad. I really don't like how Steve hasn't addressed our blueline at all during this season. There has to be some lower tier moves he could have made by now that gets Holl out of the lineup each night and allows for Gus to be scratched when he sucks.
I'm not worried about Ed really, as rookies will have ups and downs and he has been asked to shoulder a much heavier load than a rookie should have to, and that is on Steve. Great that he can handle 20+, but still.
Trading Olli was a mistake op. Should’ve been someone else.
Probably and unfortunatelyThe likely traded olli specifically because they couldn’t trade anybody else.
I admit I am counting the chickens before they hatch with this statement; but Raymond on pace for a 90pt season, with a contract under 8 million, is the definition of team friendly. 11.5 for 10 more points, albeit at a more important position; is far less team friendly.Well, you make the trade with the expectation/hope that he gets back to his 100-point self, which he absolutely has the talent to do. It's risky, but an opportunity to get a player of his calibre for the (relatively) cheap price it would cost given the risk involved rarely ever comes along.
If Pettersson gets back to scoring 100 pts a year, 11.5 is a team-friendly deal. 2022-2023 Petterson scored 102 pts while playing extremely good defense. He was a much better player than anybody on our team right now, including Raymond, Mo and Larkin. If he can get back there, then Ed and Kasper have nothing to complain about, as he absolutely deserves 11.5 at that levle of play. But of course you make that trade as a gamble, as he could continue to downtrend and then you're stuck with the contract.
But I just have a feeling he explodes after leaving Vancouver. Can anyone name a player who had this level of skill and proven performance in his first 3-4 years and then just became a perenneal 60pt player after that? I can't think of a single person.

I hope not but hopefully Yzerman didn't choose the coach over some certain defensive players like Walman/Maata. We'll never know but imo it feels like Lalonde has issues with these players and favored guys like Chiarot/Petry.
Don’t forget Yzerman hired/fired Boucher before Cooper.Looking at what he achieved in Tampa, and sticking with Cooper. Wouldn't be suprised if Yzerman found pride in sticking with his coach, while all the other GMs were rotating their coaches.
I think it was a matter of Olli being the only one with any value. On one hand it showed they were trying to make room for Jo, on the other, I'm not sure why we just didnt bury Holl in GRTrading Olli was a mistake op. Should’ve been someone else.
True, I forgot Boucher was a Yzerman hire.Don’t forget Yzerman hired/fired Boucher before Cooper.
I think a big part of Walman leaving was he lost his top 4 spot and didn't want to play in a 3rd line role, he saw the writing on the wall (no pun intended) with Ed and Chiarot holding spots on the left side.I dont regret the maata deal only because if he stayed maybe chiarot would have went on the right side and who knows if Johansson ever sticks longterm with edvinsson and finds his confidence
Maybe we end up dealing johansson somewhere and he plays well on another team. I'd say the obvious walman trade was the bad move
Na I think the whole moving walman debacle was cause he was planning on adding trouba and that fell throughI think a big part of Walman leaving was he lost his top 4 spot and didn't want to play in a 3rd line role, he saw the writing on the wall (no pun intended) with Ed and Chiarot holding spots on the left side.
His play at the tail end of the season told the tale of where he was headed, SY had to make room for Ed, so he had to go before things got to a Vancouver stage...SY likely did Walman a favour by sending him to a team that could accommodate his desire to be top 4 and sent a message to the room that SY will take care of the team dynamics in short order.
They aren't doing shit for Nashville's playoff push, what makes you think they'd help ours?Call-in on Ryan O'Reilly + Luke Schenn trade? What's that got to cost in people's opinions? (No rumors just what I want for a good playoff push)
Gotta dump Tarasenko/Holl somehow. Real anchors.
