The goal isn’t to achieve the playoffs, it’s to build a winning team. Derailing a potential great team for a few plugs this year is not worth the squeeze. If we do add anyone they must be long term fits, and to me the biggest gain would be getting rid of dead weight. Getting aged plugs as gap fillers has no appeal to me.
Using a 3rd/4th round pick on a rental isn’t going to derail our future.

Completely different owners now. Back in the Feds offer days the team was owned by Karmanos (Compuware fame) a big business guy with Detroit ties. He and Illitch had prior business feudings before the Feds bit even took place. Tom Dudon now owns the Hurricanes.

Ok. That's all well and good. However the quote that I was replying to was a reply asking when the last time these two teams made a trade and they couldn't recall.

I was pointing out it was fairly recent in a trade we (should have) won. Either way it seems the bad blood is gone as the ownership has changed as you've pointed out.

those spots would just be depth pieces, though. a 7th D, a backup goalie, 3 forwards. Gets interesting the year after that when Bob's contract comes up and they need a goalie, but with how the cap is expected to rise, they should have money to spend again.

It's going to be interesting to see how the cap going up so much affects trades and signings. We've gotten use to it being hard to move a guy like Tank or Copp, but that might not be true this summer. Of course, it might make it harder for us because no one else has added pressure to move a guy for cap issues.
Hard to say, but no doubt the Cats are going all in...I wonder now, that since they have some added (shade of Vegas) cap space they might take on Tank for future considerations, where the considerations are at the end of the season they send the wings the rights to which ever of Ekblad or Bennet they decide to not sign (because now they got Tank) once they are out of the playoffs. Gives SY a couple weeks head start if he want to sign whomever it is or trade their rights.

Why would they do any of that? Lol

He was dealing with a lower body injury during the 4 nations that was speculated as a groin injury. Seems odd that it'd keep him out for the rest of the season though.
you ever pull your groin before?

ive pulled both at separate times and multiple times in life. Definitely depends on age/rehab but it is a real bit** to deal with.

Not to mention if you ever get ptsd where you remember making that cut and that is when it happens and the only move you can make next is the same cut...shi* messes with you.

For me, two times in football (one was "hell week/conditioning week" and the other was in a game) and once in hockey practice.

Stretching does matter folks....no matter how boring it is

These are elite athletes with access to the best medical care in the world. They don't need the normal time to recover that you or I would.

Look at ovie, broke his leg 4 weeks later was back on the ice scoring goals

If I had a dollar for every time I refreshed this forum waiting for the green bar 'confirmed with link' thread of us making a trade, I could personally buy out Justin Holl!
