So we’re at 47 contracts? Room for Hayes and a couple college FAs.
Any decent college FAs out there? Most of the time not...So we’re at 47 contracts? Room for Hayes and a couple college FAs.

Colossal amount of cap space, like north of $25M iirc. Three retention slots starting this summer with Smith and Petry coming off the books. One retention slot pretty much locked in on EK whenever he's finally moved, which feels like a foregone conclusion this summer. What does our cap space / retention spots look like for next season?
Sure he's a depth D but you forget our coach is Sullivan and we saw how Ruhwedel stayed forever before they finally dumped him. Chad was played constantly over POJ and others and that's the issue. Shea is good for depth but not playing as much as he has been.Shea is fine it’s just his usage is bizarre. You can’t have 7 Makars so you need a few cheap depth guys. He’s like Ruhwedel though, he’s a #8 that they deploy like a #6.
Eric Tulsky should be fired for this shit. At one point he was interviewed twice for the vacant Pens GM job, bullet dodged for sure because he absolutely destroyed the Canes from the 2024 Deadline to the 2025 Deadline.

Carolina's owner is supposedly pretty involved with everything. Wonder how much power Tulsky even has.Eric Tulsky should be fired for this shit.
No. We’re still paying Jack Johnson. Buyouts are awful.Would you consider using a buyout for Graves? Is it possible someone would take him in a trade? I believe a buyout would look like this...
Current cap hit of $4.500 for 4 more years
Buyout cap hit of $2.400, $3.400, $3.400, $3.650, $0.646, $0.646, $0.646, $0.646
What's the point? If the savings is that low, just bury him.Would you consider using a buyout for Graves? Is it possible someone would take him in a trade? I believe a buyout would look like this...

Downgrading from 63gp-21g-49a-70pts to 59gp-9g-20a-29pts when you have current Cup aspirations/expectations seems a bit boneheaded from my cheap seats. Even if a couple magic beans were thrown in.Seems like honestly a lot of decent work.
Yeah, no true difference makers there….there will be no contending next phase unless they draft McKenna etc…enjoy the next few seasons of sucking badly…which is what they need to do if they want to turn this around as quickly as Dubas claims he wants toSo things are getting more focused as to the next phase. WB guys like McGroarty, Broz, Pickering, Ponomarev possibly Koivunen although I think the off season he has to add size and strength. St Ivany has the size and bang for a 3rd pair RD. Add in Novak, Tomasino, with potential see Brunicke in D as well.
Seems like honestly a lot of decent work.
