Context still matters. Jarry had a 3.88 when Blomqvist was playing.

The team started playing better so Jarrys GA got a little better but his save % barely changed.

Blomqvist was better when they were both up. Let see how he does with the team playing better than last time he was with them.
Will do, I just don't expect the team to get better when they are considering depleting the roster even more.

The issue goes well beyond the goalies.

It does but Blomqvist is there best bet to win games. Doesnt mean they will but at least they are going with the best chance.

If he is in net the past two games based on his save % for the year they go to OT at least. 20 shots allowed in each game.

You can just extrapolate the stats you want and ignore the other ones.

The team literally has to score 4 goals a game to win regularly.

yohe getting eviscerated in the comments for pointing out that jarry never lived up to what was hoped for him, which is about as banal a take as you can have lol

Yea and Ponomarev should be in the NHL. It was a good trade.

You can say Dubas first offseason was ass without making stuff up to criticize him. And I still standbys the Karlsson trade, Pens didn’t lose much there and Karlsson has been good enough for it to have been a logical chance. And Reilly Smith didn’t work but they got back better value for him than they trade for him, did they not? Eller was also good. It’s just Jarry and Graves which are the two big sins. And not firing Reirden last year.
It’s honestly pretty easy to justify the Jarry contract, too. He was a two time all star within just a few years leading up to the signing. There was a larger track record of success than otherwise.

Dubas did more damage to this organization in his first week than Hextall managed to do in 2 years, and Hextall is seen as a supervillain.

It's honestly insane how many people give Dubas a pass because he's only been here a little bit when he'll be here nearly as long as Hextall in a few months.

No other GM was gonna win rounds with this team the last 2 years. I was never under any illusions about that. People here are mostly projecting their frustration with the state of the organization onto Dubas. Plus many didn't like him to begin with, and no moves he woulda made woulda changed that. The stubbornness on this board is next level. People hold to narratives for like a decade, come Hell or high water.

My take is that his trades have been largely good. Maybe a B+.
The signings maybe a C or C+. A few terrible ones in there for sure, but those aren't the only ones on the list. I'm rather happy with the drafting so far, although that's hard to assess at this early juncture.
I don't like that they're fence-sitting as an organization, but that's on ownership, not KD. That's a mandate, and existed before he got here. "Build for the future while staying competitive". Good luck

I'm more interested with how he conducts the rebuild than what things he does to move them from 13th in the East to 9th or w/e. The results for the rest of this season don't matter. It's pleasant to see them win, and I'm programmed to enjoy that after watching the team for 32 years. But I know it's not the best thing for the team long-term. They should be drafting higher, and selling Rakell, Petts, Bunting etc...

I just don’t want to see the relentless mania and anger of Toronto Maple Leafs fans infect our franchise. They hate Dubas because they didn’t win under him. Those losers haven’t won since a six team league I don’t want to hear it. Dubas could’ve added Pastrnak, Marchand and Ullmark for 7th rounders during his tenure and they would’ve still lost to Boston in 7 every year.
