Would cost you Zacha and Lohrei. Guy will be on an ELC 2024-25 thru 2026-27 right?
That would be an interesting offer. Some really nice players in that draft year outside of Bedard.

Leo Carlson went 2nd overall I believe, maybe that’s who Sweeney trying to pry from Verbeek. This team needs an infusion of youth with skill.

Anyone else get the feeling like the Rangers are going to now trade Kreider to Boston and get more for him from Boston than what they paid for Miller?
Maybe a trade could happen, but no way will there be a overpay, Sweeney and Donnie know there are a lot eyes on them and what they are doing now, Fans and ownership, they better thread carefully.

Probably. I find it hard to believe the Rangers got Miller for basically a pile of crap. We couldn’t have offered more or did Miller only want to go to the Rangers?

I’m sure he’s not untouchable, but he would cost a lot. I’d give up any regular +, outside of Pasta and McAvoy for him.
They are not going to turn around and trade Ryan Leonard.

They're well aware of what they have in the player.

By the way, Washington is a club that has successfully quote retooled more or less on the fly, and it appears to have worked.

Why don't we get GM's like that?

Hell no their not, but Id try like hell to get him and handful more from that draft year. :)

Zach’s played great yesterday, Chipping in with a goal and an assist, but his defensive play was off the charts always seemed to be in the right spot and never quit. Geekie relentless as well, their fun to watch.

Pasta is in another world, Demigod mode right now.
Agree. Leave the first line alone. So so fun to watch. Compliment each other perfectly. Sign the Geek!!!!

They said on HNIC last night ( Van GM) Miller wanted Vancouver and they had the best offer. Teams were limited to deal with.

So right, don't fix what is not broken. DKH, posted he likes to watch different parts of the game, and what is going on away from the play, and he was complimentary of Zacha, I wish Donnie and Cam watched a game with him before they signed an 8ml center for Pasta when they already had one.

Unless you thought Charlie Coyle was a good fit as a top 6 C, they still needed one.

I didn't say that, but they paid Linholm to be a 1st line center when not needed, they should have gone a different direction. They did not replace Debrusk, and they were in need of a wing before he left. Bottom line it was an overreaction, and pressure from the fans to sign this guy sorry, but it was an awful signing.

They needed a top 6 center (two if you asked some). They paid him appropriately for that role, whether you call it a #1 or a #2. Since he is playing like #2 and not a #2, he is currently overpaid.

I have little issue with the concept of Zacha as the#1C. Lindholm isn't a top 6C on a
SC contender unfortunately.

As above, that is what they signed him for, though and he got paid in line with that expectation. I am not defending his play by any stretch because I expected a good deal better, but had he been the guy the Bruins thought they were getting (and may still get out of him) he is paid appropriately.

Bottom line it was a bad, unnecessary signing.

What ? You mean they dont ?

Zacha is a #1 center only when Pastrnak is also on the line. Like Geekie is a #1 wing.

Whatever works, works. It matters little if he isn't by definition a "true #1" so long as he plays like one. Same with Geekie.

Bottom line it was a bad, unnecessary signing.

Looks bad in terms of term and AAV yes, but it was necessary, unless you were good with Zacha and Coyle again as the top 6 C's. This is where Sweeneely can't win with some people. If he had stood Pat with the centers, like the season before, it would have been serious raggin' time down on the HF farm.

Geekie is a RFA, I believe with arbitration rights. He's not the primary concern, he will eventually get signed.

The primary concerns should be anyone who is an UFA. Whoever is not signed on or before March 7th serious consideration has to go into moving that player. Bruins can not afford to let assets walk with nothing in return.

Whom and how the Bruins make moves will depend a lot on where the team is in the standing approaching March 7th.

Marchand is the primary UFA. Outside of Pastrnak, he is the only other experienced player with a higher hockey offensive IQ that also knows how to score. In many ways, regardless of his frustration and sometimes less than stellar reactions and play this season, he is still very much the heart and soul of this team.

Hopefully, the team and Marchand can come to an agreement that both sides are happy with before March 7th, because if they don't management will have a very hard choice to make. Where the team is in the standing will influence what they do with him. Unless, Marchand asks to leave, or - they have a verbal understanding in place before hand, but then the Bruins assume all risk at that point.
