Dom wrote that there were talks with Verbeek. So who does the Ducks have we would realistically be interested in?

Troy Terry - 7M
Killorn - 6.25M (also 35, signed until he's 38 = can't see this one)
Zegras - 5.75M
R Strome - 5M
Fabbri - 4M (UFA after this season)
Vatrano - 3.65M (just signed a new deal, don't think he's dealt anymore)
Gauthier - RFA
Carlsson - RFA
McTavish - RFA

Doubt Anaheim want to move their young RFA's.
So Terry, Zegras, Strome, Fabbri are the only players that may make sense.
McTavish or Carlsson or I'd move on.

If they're talking to Anaheim its gotta be Zegras or Terry right? Can't see how the Bruins could get any Carlsson, McTavish or Gauthier.

Zegras for Coyle, and some pieces to round out value. Gets rid of a big problem for the Ducks, and brings in a character veteran they could really use. Maybe Lysell goes in the deal.

@DominicT what are your thoughts on Cal Ritchie? What's his upside and how soon is he playing in the NHL?

I figure you know him well so I went on your websites and looked up an article on OHL Writers, but it was from 3 years ago.

Dallas Mavericks trade 25 year old franchise player Doncic, yet somehow Sweeney too fearful to move Coyle Frederic etc
I don't think he's too fearful. I think he might want to make the right deal and that's a matter of timing. At this point, I can't imagine he's not going to deal plenty. Because the season is down the tubes and everyone knows it. Including death dumb and blind there on causeway street.

"The NHL on Friday informed teams that the current $88 million cap ceiling will jump to $95.5 million in 2025-26, followed by $104 million in 2026-27 and $113.5 million in 2027-28, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic."

So, how does this affect who they move "in or out" at the deadline? Some $7 million additional cap space in 25-26. Followed by around $9 million additional the following two seasons. Seems like Coyle's contract might not look so bad after all? How about McAvoy? Maybe more good players will reach free agency in the coming years?

The Bruins are at $73 million next year if you factor in all the UFA and RFA, including Marchand and Frederic. They will have $22 million to allocate with a $95.5 million cap. Nichuskin should break the bank!

Wouldn’t mind either depending on the price. Zegras has more upside and younger and with Pasta could be a 100 pt player.

Carlsson right now looks like the ugly duckling. Kind of awkward lots of talent but still growing into that body. McTavish has Bruin written all over him.

Big no on Showboat Trev.

Taveres will take a home town discount I’m sure. He is from Toronto I believe.

Geekie is a RFA, I believe with arbitration rights. He's not the primary concern, he will eventually get signed.

The primary concerns should be anyone who is an UFA. Whoever is not signed on or before March 7th serious consideration has to go into moving that player. Bruins can not afford to let assets walk with nothing in return.

Whom and how the Bruins make moves will depend a lot on where the team is in the standing approaching March 7th.

Marchand is the primary UFA. Outside of Pastrnak, he is the only other experienced player with a higher hockey offensive IQ that also knows how to score. In many ways, regardless of his frustration and sometimes less than stellar reactions and play this season, he is still very much the heart and soul of this team.

Hopefully, the team and Marchand can come to an agreement that both sides are happy with before March 7th, because if they don't management will have a very hard choice to make. Where the team is in the standing will influence what they do with him. Unless, Marchand asks to leave, or - they have a verbal understanding in place before hand, but then the Bruins assume all risk at that point.
They should deal Marchand if they can.

I don't like it anymore than anyone else. But they have to get the best return while they can, and Brad will bring back a handsome return.

The ship is seeking regardless.
