Talked to an Anaheim scout that lives in Kamloops here, former Blazer/Bronco coach and we discussed Zegras. His first words were you won't win with Zegras. Not a player to build around unless the Bruins culture can change him. Would rather McTavish if he can be had.

Sure , we'd rather get McTavish no doubt about it.

In terms of Zegras the reason he is available is everyone knows what your scout said.. He is overpaid and someone I am sure Anaheim would love to get out of town. No one is giving up real value for him . The question is, is Boston desperate enough to take the chance, and is Anaheim desperate enough to make it worth Boston's while..

McTavish on the other hand still has significant positive value, even if he hasn't necessarily lived up to being a top 3 pick. Maybe you could find a way to get him, but honestly I don't know how Boston does it unless it is a deal that starts with Lohrei maybe, and then ADD

Ok. I’ve had a few cocktails but if Kevyn Adams calls you up and says “hey I will trade you my entire roster for your entire current NHL roster” What’s your answer?
Knowing Buffalo has super chance at top pick & Hagans and are a younger team, I would have to think the smart money would be switching rosters. Not something I would want to do because huge Pasta fan but I think I would.

Sabres have no backbone, none. Thompson gets run and no response. Bruins are older and not in great shape but I still would rather build around the core in Boston, just don’t want Sweeney doing it.

Again it may be the liquor talking but I think it’s the Sabres and it ain’t even close.

not much has changed over there in buffalo since 2011 i guess :sarcasm:

The main guys to get rid of are Coyle, Carlo and Marchand, Fred if he can’t be resigned. I don’t want Poitras or Lohrei included in any deal unless it’s a huge over-pay.
To those of you wanting to keep Marchand- why? Is he a key to us winning the cup this year? No, so take the best offer and move forward. I’m sure there won’t be a Marchand trade and we can look forward to “ We’re happy with what we have going forward. We decided to keep Brad as our own rental………” That will be Sweeneys stupid comment when he’s too fearful to actually improve the future of the team.

The opportunity is there to rebuild with young prospects by trading a guy on an expiring contract. I just wish we had a GM with the guts to do it and do it right.

Re: Brad

1. The team lacks leadership and he is one of the few that provide it
2. I think he still has a few more years to give
3. Are we really really sure it would be a “oh just come back in the summer” situation? That just seems naive.

Since his house is here his three kids are here and in schools and I’m sure have lives - wife etc

I can’t speak for Brad but I’d not waive or go unless I had an agreement to come back or they said they were moving on which the aren’t

every game they win over next 3 weeks of NHL hockey he’s no way going

If I had to place a bet he signs a 2-3 year extension over break if not already has

The last one he had I was told/PM by a person who reads this he had a deal they would announce it later - after WC and they did

It was 2-3 weeks i think ahead of when happened

I love him and he’s retiring here just does he have a blip

I don’t trade him unless he says he doesn’t know if he wants to be here

He’s still good to very good a legit top 6

So, 10 games until the deadline. The "easy ones" are Ana and Nash and Pitt.
Unless they go on a bad losing streak, they will probably be in the WC competition.
I don't see the professor selling anyone. In fact, if they are in a WC slot at the beginning of March, then they are probably buyers. :(

Ugh.

Bruins have played 34 games with Sacco none with Hampus and have 94-95 point pace

Are they the 22-23 Bruins ? No

But they aren’t garbage

A full lineup I hate to bum Bruins fans, err, I mean followers out - if the Islanders could win 7 in a row the Bruins can

Ideally to me they retool and trade people and get a handful of assets and give us 5 weeks of Lysell & Merkulov

If they get 2 of 3 this week & Lindholm & Kastelic back after break I think it’s more likely they go on a run and chalk it all up to Monty heart wasn’t in it and injuries

I want a retool but they have a good week don’t see the retool

They had a full roster early this season and they were actually worse. You want to blame the coach for all that fine. Not buying it. Truth is this team can play well when they are focused and give effort. The problem is they do it for a couple of games and then slink back into minimal effort games. They should not be this wildly different game to game. They just cannot maintain an edge for long before going dull again.

But i do agree, and even if they have a .500 week they will not retool. They would have to have a disastrous record for the next couple of weeks. Anything close to .500 hockey and or the other teams slip up no retool. Would I rather retool it course. But a GM is going to do what he has to to survive and tanking a playoff spot when you are close is not a good look for a GM.
