Anyone else get the feeling like the Rangers are going to now trade Kreider to Boston and get more for him from Boston than what they paid for Miller?
Maybe a trade could happen, but no way will there be a overpay, Sweeney and Donnie know there are a lot eyes on them and what they are doing now, Fans and ownership, they better thread carefully.

Probably. I find it hard to believe the Rangers got Miller for basically a pile of crap. We couldn’t have offered more or did Miller only want to go to the Rangers?

I’m sure he’s not untouchable, but he would cost a lot. I’d give up any regular +, outside of Pasta and McAvoy for him.
They are not going to turn around and trade Ryan Leonard.

They're well aware of what they have in the player.

By the way, Washington is a club that has successfully quote retooled more or less on the fly, and it appears to have worked.

Why don't we get GM's like that?

They said on HNIC last night ( Van GM) Miller wanted Vancouver and they had the best offer. Teams were limited to deal with.

Agree. Leave the first line alone. So so fun to watch. Compliment each other perfectly. Sign the Geek!!!!
Geekie is a RFA, I believe with arbitration rights. He's not the primary concern, he will eventually get signed.

The primary concerns should be anyone who is an UFA. Whoever is not signed on or before March 7th serious consideration has to go into moving that player. Bruins can not afford to let assets walk with nothing in return.

Whom and how the Bruins make moves will depend a lot on where the team is in the standing approaching March 7th.

Marchand is the primary UFA. Outside of Pastrnak, he is the only other experienced player with a higher hockey offensive IQ that also knows how to score. In many ways, regardless of his frustration and sometimes less than stellar reactions and play this season, he is still very much the heart and soul of this team.

Hopefully, the team and Marchand can come to an agreement that both sides are happy with before March 7th, because if they don't management will have a very hard choice to make. Where the team is in the standing will influence what they do with him. Unless, Marchand asks to leave, or - they have a verbal understanding in place before hand, but then the Bruins assume all risk at that point.

To be clear, I only know Leonard by reputation, but everything I hear is impressive.

Apparently a pain in the ass to play against at every turn.

OT:

This is HF so a goodly portion of what is posted here contains unrealistic expectations and wild speculation.

I'm not singling anyone out. We all do it.

But really, in what universe are the Leafs going to deal Marner or even Tavares?

"Give us your gold and take our junk."

It's not going to happen so why waste the time and effort to post it?

Fan is short for fanatic.

Marner needs new deal along with Tavares .NHL upping cap just in time 😆 He will stay in Ontario is a strong bet with him from there.

Taveres and Marner are ufa after this year. No way they trade them. But they could sign somewhere else if they wanted to.

Dom wrote that there were talks with Verbeek. So who does the Ducks have we would realistically be interested in?

Troy Terry - 7M
Killorn - 6.25M (also 35, signed until he's 38 = can't see this one)
Zegras - 5.75M
R Strome - 5M
Fabbri - 4M (UFA after this season)
Vatrano - 3.65M (just signed a new deal, don't think he's dealt anymore)
Gauthier - RFA
Carlsson - RFA
McTavish - RFA

Doubt Anaheim want to move their young RFA's.
So Terry, Zegras, Strome, Fabbri are the only players that may make sense.

Or buyers. Stand Pat.
I think they really believe the team will instantly be contenders when Hampus returns and are waiting to see. How can a management group be so irresponsible with the lack of help for their obvious struggling team. Like moving in quick sand.

I agree 99% that they wouldn’t do it….but it would be very similar to other deals that quasi-contenders have made in the past.

I mean Iginla/Nieuwendyk and Thompson/ROR are very close to what Washington would be doing.

Again, every year several teams have the chance to do it and don’t, but in this case one driving factor might be Ovi’s age and the surprising position the Caps find themselves in.

Gauthier, Carlson, McTavish, only way I would go.
