Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XIII

From reading the scoresheet it appears Merkulov and Lysell are back playing together and they are all over it from this weekend.

Merkulov-Lindholm-Lysell. I wonder if those two could get Lindholm going and provide some secondary offense on the third line.

You add those two along with Poitras all of sudden the team is a lot younger and skilled.

Yeah that was a really good comp you made. I see it a lot. To me he's a keeper and could be a late blooming diamond in the rough. Sometimes 25-26 year old come into their own playing with higher skilled players and you can see that here.
He’s not just banging lose pucks around the net - he’s got hands, some wiggle, a great shot, finds open space, and has on ice awareness

Thursday I sat with my friend dead center ice row 2 balcony behind the benches and I saw Geekie in a completely different way. He was making plays and passes

Remember he lived way up in New Canada (I think he was Sheppy’s paper boy) and to ice teams it was boys and girls

His wife was his linemate and I believe she’s a nurse at one of the Boston hospitals. He said she was the feisty one and due to her extensive playing background is a good source of information now

I am very impressed- he and Zacha are evolving

The Bruins have rebuilt and retooled their first line and should be set for awhile

The bottom 6 are carpenter lines - thru can be built thru a number of ways and usually are a smorgasbord of vets from other teams (2011: Pevs, Ryder, Kelly, Paille, Thornton, Campbell)

The top 6 you need skills

If they can secure Necas (Avs are going to be going hard so could be trouble) the Bruins are in a great spot going forward

They need their D back and see what happens

Marchand after a great December in January has 1 goal in 12 games with a goalie in the net

Marchand is a line driver but he looks like he lost a gear

I don’t like Marchand, both Lindholms, Swayman, and McAvoy are in this

Happy Pastrnak & Zacha aren’t

Mcavoy and Lysell for Kreider and Schneider. Anyone?
Super hard pass

The emergence of Jones McMuffin Koepke make it much easier to trade Fred And Braz. And for good returns. I really do like Braz and fully aware trading him could come back to bite Boston. He is one player that really could help sweeten the pot for a top six scoring speedy winger.

Fred is a pretty obvious trade chip.
Whoa

This is a joke right

This is probably going to get roasted. But am I the only one thinking the Bs sell high on Geekie?

I think they could get him at a fair short term number as he’s an RFA this offseason and even if he hits 25 goals.

You can see his game has improved. He’s a lot more confident with the puck and has even created plays. Starting to wonder if he could be considered a solid top 6 contributor going forward.

But at the same time, how much of it could also be attributed to the resurgence of David Pastrnak?

Bruins are a 7-10 seed right now but they can’t do rentals or Sweeney better have a video of God telling him to do it and they win Cup

They will add 2 top defenseman

If Sacco who’s not afraid to bench Marchand he better keep Lohrei on PP 1

No. The guy would solve so, so many offense issues. I know he’ll be 34 soon, but he’s durable and is huge in front of the net. Also, don’t forget that he’s one of those rare guys with a neck wider than his head.
Well he’s certainly the leader in the clubhouse right now for the Cy Young award.

On a so-called “off year” he’s on pace to score 30. He would be immense on our power play. We have done well without the highly overrated Mcavoy (9.5) and Lysell is never going to be a Bruin. Schneider is big, talented and a right-hand shot.

I guess I’m the only one, but I gleefully deal Mcavoy and Lysell for Kreider and Schneider.

He’s on pace to score 25. With 3 assists. Trading a bonafide #1 defenseman for an aging power forward is asinine.

Big time pass on that deal" ."Ouch" if McAvoy goes to NYR Lafreniere is where the conversation starts an ends imo.

You replace Kreider with Lafreniere count me in, or the Bruins could just give Merk a legit shot for the first time. Crazy they just keep him down the A!

I still think a McAvoy trade is worth exploring, if they can bring back a good young player and a good right defender. Something like Perfetti and Pionk from the Peg might be a good start. Mac probably wouldn’t want to waive though

So Schneider isn’t good? When did Mcavoy return to #1 form? He has little desire since he got his 9.5. I’ve seen enough and I wanted him named captain after Chara. I’m over and out on Mcavoy.

I think Miller will get dealt soon, I think we have a good shot at him too!

I think Carlo + 1st in 2025 + Frederic is a fair deal! Miller needs to go and he can control so they won't get a kings ransom. I'm also assuming that Frederic agrees to an extension.

Geeks-Zacha-Pasta
Marchy-Miller-Coyle
Poitras-Lindholm-Lysell
That's a filthy top 9
Filthy!!!

Works for me.
I don think its radical to say 39-18-88 is a legit RS first line. Arguably say 15-17 but worst case #20. Boston's issue is in the 2nd line. Coyle has regressed way to much to be relied upon as a top 6 guy and #63 is too old to be beyond spurts. Lindholm
has massively underperformed. So they need minimum two legit top 6 forwards.
Going to have to deal Marchand, Frederic, McAvoy and a #1 to get that. If not two top 6F then one top 6F and two #1.

Agree on all, but the Bruins winning percentage without those two i'd bet is higher than with them, or with just McAvoy in the line-up. This team need offense bad, although I think both of them will help generate more, but the Bruins need scorers.
and ....
"Here's an Idea "
Call this guy up along with lysell and give them a legit shot at showing what they can do1
