Well I think it would be stupid to not resign him, so therefore it would be stupid to trade him.
What if someone offers Feddy 4 years, $24 mil?

We may disagree about Frederic in terms of quality of player, but this is such a lousy reductive argument.9 points in 28 games, -9 ~14 mins TOI. That's a first round pick?
This team is going nowhere, whether they trade him or not. might as well get something for the future.
I know I'm speaking out of turn, but that would be even more stupid. What if someone offers Feddy 4 years, $24 mil?

I'm sure @MarchysNoseKnows is assuming a fair market deal when he's suggesting a re-sign... And not some ridiculous overpayment.
Don Sweeney is that you? Tf, while not quite a total stiff, is not very valuable. I say he returns a low second at best. You ask for a second and follow up with "something" ?
Freddy is no stiff he will bring back at least a second but Im guessing it would take more than that for the Bruins to trade him.
First round home grown player.
If he is not resigned they should trade him .However ,I Saw that movie watching Loui Eriksson walk away for nothing who was better then Freddy ,it's called Bruins. If they smell a playoff gate he will be hereIf we stupidly decide to trade him at the deadline we’d get a hell of a lot more than a second.
I think betting against him potting 20 this season is safe money .Just my take and I know he has 3 so on pace for 18 .Just not feeling it with him. What if Feddy ends the season with 20 goals.
It's not a ridiculous overpayment. We know most UFA's get overpayment. And we know some teams make terrible deals to get what they think they need. It only takes one dumb GM.
The only way that happens is if we let him walk to free agency so kind of a moot point. What if someone offers Feddy 4 years, $24 mil?
It’s easily a first at the deadline and probably a decent amount more.Don Sweeney is that you? Tf, while not quite a total stiff is not very valuable. I say he returns a low second at best.
We're talking about Trent Frederic, right? It’s easily a first at the deadline and probably a decent amount more.
Consider this ... the NHL has expanded to the point where the product is very watered down. A team picking late in the first round 19th overall or later today wound be if it were 50 years ago picking in the second round of the draft. 1974 there were 18 teams, by 79 - 21 teams.9 points in 28 games, -9 ~14 mins TOI. That's a first round pick?

You’re really comparing Tomasino to Frederic? Not a good comp at all.Trent Frederic is a 26 yr old center/winger with a stat line of: NHL Totals 308GP 50G 53A 103Pts 284PIM
A 23 year old center/winger with a stat line of: NHL Totals 163GP 25G 49A 74Pts 41PIM Just got traded for a 4th round pick in 2027.
Using this trade as the market there is no way in hell Frederic brings a 1st, maybe a 2nd plus a prospect.

Unless he is playing thru a nagging injury, no way am I offering him 4M given how he has played this year. Guy has played at his current salary so far.I'm guessing he gets resigned with 10 team no trade at close to $4.5m per .. if he sucks next year or the year after st loius will definitely take a flyer on him in a trade. Like Jake debrusk I have a feeling he'll do better at home or closer to home. They definitely won't lose him for nothing. I do like playoff freddy better than regular season freddy ....unfortunately this year we need some production from him to make the playoffs
Byfield? He will be 22 years old this year, while Frederic turns 27 in early February. We may disagree about Frederic in terms of quality of player, but this is such a lousy reductive argument.
What value would you place on Quinton Byfield? The guy has played nearly 60 full minutes more than Frederic, has two more assists, less than half the blocked shots and less than a third of his hits. Think the Kings would do better than a 2nd Round Pick if they decided to deal him?
Of course they would. Because (like Frederic) there's more to his resume. More to the story.
Does that mean that Frederic would be a cinch to net a first? Not at all. But we've all seen far worse players get better value on the market come deadline time.
If we stupidly decide to trade him at the deadline we’d get a hell of a lot more than a second.

I'd be thrilled to get that for him. However any NHL GM who offers a 1st + additional assets for him, should be immediately fired for cause....
I don't disagree but Debrusk was leaving to Canada West regardless IMO unless we silly overpaid. I'm not a big Freddy fan ...has inconstancy issues big time. We either trade him this season or sign him ...we're not in the position to lose him for nothing...hopefully Sweeney has learned that lesson. Someone will absolutely pay him $4M if he hits free agency.Unless he is playing thru a nagging injury, no way am I offering him 4M given how he has played this year. Guy has played at his current salary so far.
Bruins should have prioritized DeBrusk after the PO. Could have still signed Lindholm
and not Zadorov. I am not negative on Zadorov either.

That is a whole lot more solid top 9 than what they are running now with a decent 4th line.
I think his current shooting percent is down. League average is 10% so even if his last two years are a little high, he should be scoring on more shots.Frederic shot 14% the last two years and is at 7% this year. Is it more he was lucky the last two years or unlucky this year? Or is he getting worse shots? He is on pace for around the same quantity of shots. His amount of high danger shots is a little down but nothing that a couple of good games couldn’t fix.
That is a solid top9, but the tradeoff is that Wotherspoon would currently be your best left defenseman.Unless he is playing thru a nagging injury, no way am I offering him 4M given how he has played this year. Guy has played at his current salary so far.

I mean maybe as it only takes one GM to hit the panic button, but dam IMO A first alone is an overpayment adding a decent amount more would be basically having another GM signing his walking papers. It’s easily a first at the deadline and probably a decent amount more.
Look at who has gone for a first the last several years. A super cheap 26 year old versatile forward who - despite this boards tendency to assess value week by week - can play all three forward positions, PK, and is physical is worth a lot more than people think. Especially being able to easily fit into even the tightest cap situations.I mean maybe as it only takes one GM to hit the panic button, but dam IMO A first alone is an overpayment adding a decent amount more would be basically having another GM signing his walking papers.
Curious though whats your decent amount more?
I know you didn't ask me but I will chime in,I mean maybe as it only takes one GM to hit the panic button, but dam IMO A first alone is an overpayment adding a decent amount more would be basically having another GM signing his walking papers.

A First pick, it will be a low first since it will be a team that's already good.
Middle of the road prospect
Third rounder in a future draft.
I Still think he will get extended
