I am a Poitras fan, but he has to learn how to play against men and protect himself from headhunters instead of watching the puck on his stick. That's why he's down there. I'm all for it. He'll be back.

Perhaps I'm being unfair, but everything I have heard about Lysell in Providence raises red flags. He's a one-man show. Still. According to Providence Journal writer Mark Divver and the Herald's Steve Conroy, he's done nothing of note to help the p-bruins.

If he can't help Providence, how is he going to help Boston?

If I'm wrong about this, please inform.
Because as of this morning, he's still top 5 for the Bruins this season in on-ice expected goals per 60 min. He has shown he can play at the NHL-level. Not every prospect/rookie should be expected to produce like McDavid in the NHL.

He'll
I want the GM to find a legit top 6 winger somehow.Watching DeBrusk makes me want to vomit 🤢
He'll likely go cold soon enough. He always does.

Even so, Jake indisputably possesses far greater talent and hockey sense than almost anyone suiting up this season for the Boston Bruins.

Initially, I thought Sweeney could add a relatively cheap upgrade or two on the wing.

Though their shot totals and scoring have improved dramatically since Sacco was handed the reigns, it is abundantly clear that major moves must be made if Boston hopes to survive the playoffs beyond round one.

If they don't, it may finally mean Sweeney's (and possibly Neely's) ass.

To me, nearly every player on the current roster is therefore legitimate trade bait.

We can argue about who should be untouchable.

In my mind, relative to this season and going forward, no one is.

So, be careful what you wish for Virginia.

You just might get it.

We can agree to disagree, without being disagreeable.

When has Fabian proven he can play with the big boys in the NHL?

This is not me saying I don't like the guy, get rid of him.

This is people who watch Lysell on a regular basis. People who know their stuff and whose reportsge and opinions I respect.

Last season some people got really upset when I said that statistically speaking, Lysell would be lucky to have a Ryan Donato career. That was when Donato was a 30 pt player.

But it's a good lesson two ways: guys can always turn out worse than you think. AND, guys can always turn out better. Ryan is certainly showing he had more in him. Maybe Lysell will too.

But I'd STILL take a Donato career out of this kid now. That would be just fine.

I would, but that’s only because I have even less faith in our drafting
Legit point you make, so if they had the pick when Zegras was available they would have picked him, and that would prove your point. ....HAHA

If the Bruins can give Brown, McLaughlin, Merkulov, and Viel a few games at the NHL level, why not Lysell? Why not look at his recent play?
He started really slow, but I think he was headed towards a call-up, he had 6 points in 7 games but then he got injured again.

I'll dispute that.

Was a 19 year old wing going to get a shot on a 135 point team?

Lysell was still seeing butterflies at the start of the 2023 season, but the lack of a call up at the end doesn't speak of confidence.

He's been injured pretty much all of this season.

Only definitive thing I'd say is he's been unlucky with injuries. His biggest/worst was a palooka going across half a sheet of ice to elbow him in the brain, then jump him, so I'm not ready to board the prone wagon just yet.

Good point.

I feel like that should come with an asterisk. The first year in Providence he was 19 years old. Nobody expects a 19 year old in junior to get called up for NHL games.

He could spend 2 more years in Providence and he'd still be a year younger than Merkulov is now.

I just don't like the segment of posters who are ever ready to label our prospects busts (meaning I don't like the posts or the takes, not the people) and the sad thing is, confirmation bias means it will never stop because they will be right most of the time (a strong majority of drafted players don't make it). Lysell has the talent and the Bruins were forutnate to get him where they did, and he's still so young. Look at a guy like Brazeau. If he were 22 in Providence doing what he did at 22 for the Marlies he'd be labeled by some as a bust not deserving a callup. You gotta have hope, people.

The blunt truth regarding Lysell is journeymen types like McLaughlin or Viel are being called up before him and there must be a reason for that

Edit: not even factoring in that his purported skillset is exactly what the bruins are currently starved of

What about all the forwards taken ahead of him that have played a bit?

It seems like at this point we just make excuses for him about not being called up. He's been injured granted but is this on him or the front office?

They are trying to maintain his trade value me thinks

Yea my bet is because they know for sure those guys are bringing responsible hitting in your face game.I would still love to see Lysell get a good look here with some skill players .

They're not calling him up to play on the fourth line. That would be silly. Almost as silly as signing Tyler Johnson.

He was hurt

Welcome back. Susan told me you left and I thought we’re never coming back.

Good to see you can’t break free

Yet they call up 4th line stiffs and play them on scoring lines. Weird, no?
Who we talking about ? I can’t figure out who you are talking about

Monty had Viel called up because he knew he was another loss from being fired and could be in St Louis for Thanksgiving

Monty never coached the 2022-23 team and basically admits he’s a passenger ‘until’ he gets bored and decides game 4 he will tinker

Viel doesn’t count - McLaughlin was on a 5 goal streak and has played here before

Lysell gets hot he’s up
