It seems like at this point we just make excuses for him about not being called up. He's been injured granted but is this on him or the front office?
I think it's on you. The Bruins haven't done anything wrong and neither has Lysell. He's right where he's supposed to be.

A couple days ago @Mr. Make-Believe said he didn't care about us trading this year's 1st because the player drafted won't help us for 5 years and Pasta will be 33 at that point. (Paraphrasing.) I think he's right and 4-5 years is considered a typical development timeline for prospects.

That's how Marchand and Krejci did it. They both played 2 years of junior after they were drafted, 1 full year in the AHL, a 4th year where they played in both the NHL and AHL, and then became full time NHL'ers in their 5th years.

By that standard, Lysell is on track. He did 1 year of junior, then played in Providence in what would have been his second post draft year of junior hockey. He put up 50 points in 56 games last year, in what would normally be his first year of minor pro hockey. This is the year he is supposed to earn a call up and get a taste of the NHL. If the season ends and he still hasn't gotten a call then I think it's time to start questioning things, but even Sweeney said he would have got the call at the end of last year had not been injured. He's got to stay healthy to play.

Yet they call up 4th line stiffs and play them on scoring lines. Weird, no?
Doesn’t seem that weird. Bruins love doing this. I don’t remember a time when they didn’t do this. I think they ask the ahl coach and they take who ever they are told is the closest to being an nhl player. I heard Dom talk about it on his podcast.

Bruins type = Zero skill plug at this point.
Zero skill local college boys to be specific :naughty:

Fully agree on all points. Draft picks are pretty overrated. Have first-rounders ever gotten us anything?

And Lysell is perfect, as is the Bruin's player development.

I want him to stay in the AHL at least another year or two, maybe even longer. You really can't rush guys into playing at a high level.

Oesterle has been a solid fill-in for Lindholm and is making his case to be the first guy coming off the bench over Wotherspoon when everyone is healthy.
Oesterle has been very good—steady and makes the right play regularly. He’s a solid depth defenseman for the playoffs.

Overall the B’s have excellent depth on defense—team strength.

Now let me try...

Draft picks never miss. All first round picks should skip development and step right into the NHL.

The Bruins hate young, cheap talent. They'd much rather have no cap flexibility.

If he's not in the NHL at 21 he's a bust, just like everything the Bruins do.

Did I get it right?

19. Teams who like Trent Frederic — and playoff-bound clubs love this type of player — are debating how serious Boston is about signing him.

I'm guessing he gets resigned with 10 team no trade at close to $4.5m per .. if he sucks next year or the year after st loius will definitely take a flyer on him in a trade. Like Jake debrusk I have a feeling he'll do better at home or closer to home. They definitely won't lose him for nothing. I do like playoff freddy better than regular season freddy ....unfortunately this year we need some production from him to make the playoffs

Holy crap. They should be open for business. Get a 2nd round pick or something. Anything.

Boston is not in a position to trade lineup players for picks. It's just not going to happen unless they are out of it at the deadline.

Now could they swap for a different player who might help, sure that makes sense , whether 1-1 or in some other hockey trade

You ask for a second and follow up with "something" ?

Freddy is no stiff he will bring back at least a second but Im guessing it would take more than that for the Bruins to trade him.

First round home grown player.

If we stupidly decide to trade him at the deadline we’d get a hell of a lot more than a second.

If they were to trade him, hopefully will be for a top 6 wing or centre obviously adding on the Bruins end. Other than that sign him based off of the reg season and playoffs. Regardless the outcome I'm sure St.Louis or another team will trade for him down the road. Most of the team has been underperforming but Freddy has his work cut out to re-establish his worth.

Doesn’t that depend on the ask and also in relation to the kind of season he has though?
I think there are two conversations going on here.

His value in a trade. Some of us it's pretty good, others ? he sucks just waive him or let him walk.

His value to the Bruins. Some of us it's pretty good, others? sent him to Providence or scratch him.
