They'll definitely need better players if they're going to make up for Landeskog sucking ass because he hasn't played hockey in two years.

I’m so confused as to why people are slotting him on the top two lines. Two years and 3 surgery’s later. I get his leadership would be the main thing needed, but good lord.

Has anyone really slotted him into the top two lines though? I'm not sure that's the case. l think most if not all expect him to be worked back in on the 3rd or 4th line.

Personally, I think he could start with Parise and RJ if he's still here. I think that could actually be a good playoff line too.

I’d have to go back through, but I’ve seen him slotted in a 2 LW on multiple roster lists here.

FWIW Seravalli on his podcast looped us with Edmonton and Vegas saying he’d be shocked if all 3 teams still had their first rounders by Saturday.

Felt Henrique is too slow for Avs.

It would be sad and also believable if after Eller and Johansen, Seravelli catches on to this before MacFarland.

Just a word of caution for you:

Stats are like politicians. They have a place but you can find one anywhere to support your argument.

Stats are not everything in hockey.

No they aren't but what's more important than goals and points?

I don't know why you or anyone else around here have such a hatred for him. It's just plain absurd at this point. I mean, now, still!?! That's way more ridiculous than anyone still spitting venom at the mere mention of Matt Duchene.

He was signed onto a team that was picking itself off the mat and had no forward depth to speak of. He was a perfectly capable utility guy for them and during the time of the "Roommates" he was not only the best center of the bunch, he was also the most consistent and least frustrating. And before you say anything, yes, JTC eventually surpassed him but it took a looooong time and a nearly two-year stretch where he was inarguably horrible.

And then, when it was time to move on, the Avs packaged him and Barrie for Kadri and Rosen, who was later flipped back to Toronto for Hutchinson, who at least helped the Avs win a playoff game, so that's a WIN all around.

Why are people on here STILL mad at him? What were the f***ing expectations? He was just a depth forward, nothing more. Avs spent literally no assets to get him, he was a perfectly good placeholder during that time and then he played a role in snagging probably the second most important player in the 2022 Cup run.

Even if y'all don't think he was any good, he vastly overachieved during his time in Colorado and then the Avs parlayed him in a trade that was highway robbery in hindsight. I won't be mad if he comes back, I'll be mad if the Avs fail to address either one of their major issues by this time Friday.

Like I said, it's mostly irrational from my perspective but I think of Kerfoot and I think of shitty Avs teams. I actually hate him much more than Duchene who I don't have nearly as much disdain for as others do. I would love it if you could hate him with us.

At least we could actually test out this, "I'd rather they do nothing instead of give up a 2nd for Eller" claim.

I don’t get those who want them to do nothing if they can’t get a legit 2C. Just throwing away another season would be insane.

It’s not likely and difficult with the cap but if they got Wennberg/Henrique and than added someone like Dowd that would be huge. Puts them in a much better spot. Everyone wants a long term 2C but another deadline like last year would be devastating. Wennberg + 6/7D should get C-Mac fired.

Let's say Wennberg (50-75% retained) costs 26 2nd + 25 3rd + Behrens. Then we know Eller cost 25 2nd. That's essentially 2 2nds + 3rd + Behrens for two rentals and never coming real close to solving the issue. This is running parallel the cost for Horvat/Lindholm as 1st + prospect + roster player/mid round pick.

The super frustrating part is that just being a touch more willing to spend would have gotten a guy here who would at least solve the issue for a run (can debate the merit of re-signing).

Trade for Wennberg and Buchnevich, dump RyJo.

Lehkonen-MacKinnon-Rantanen
Buchnevich-Wennberg-Nichuskin
Drouin-Colton-Landeskog
Wood-Cogs-LOC/Parise

Use Buchnevich and a D in the summer to trade for a 2C.

Not mostly irrational. Completely irrational. 100% bonkers. Because you are remembering shit that literally never happened.

The Avs were never a shitty team while Kerfoot was on the roster. Never. In fact, the Avs were the shittiest team of all time (adjusted for inflation) the year before he showed up, and that team had MacKinnon, Barrie, Duchene, Johnson, Compher, and Rantanen, but no Kerfoot, so I have no f***ing clue why you associate him with bad Avs teams, because the two never intersected for even a second.

So...keep dreaming. I'll reserve my irrational hatred for former Avs for Bates Battaglia, Matt Hunwick...and Ryan Johansen.
