If we re-acquire kerfoot in any capacity, we should just start the rebuild process over from scratch. You don’t win cups the way kerfoot plays.

Kerfoot would be the RyJo mistake part II.

Similar term and AAV too.
I think they are different types of mistakes. RyJo was boom or bust... he's shown a very high level of play prior and was a season removed from a good season. His floor was what we are seeing now... a disaster. Kerfoot is low risk, with low reward. You know he's not capable of the role, but you also know he's serviceable for a 3C role... if you don't have Cup ambitions.

So my thought(s) on how this is likely to play out:

I don't believe we're acquiring a legit 2C at the deadline. At least no one that actually solves the problem for the next few years. I think they go and get another "bandaid" solution and attempt to go all-in on Landeskog returning and Nichushkin keeping his head on straight.

Their belief will lie in that they have to get RyJo out of the lineup. So if they bring in someone like Kerfoot (barf) or Henrique, or Wennberg, they're going to be looking at it in the sense of "Well we're replacing RyJo's production in the lineup" and it'll be Colton/new acquisition playing the 2C and 3C roles (swapping as needed). Really it's going to be all about getting RyJo out of the lineup.

Friedman is aware that HFavs is on to him so now he is going to troll us to get our expectations high I will not fall for it!

I swear 2 years in a row at previous deadlines Pagnotta tweeted that the Avs are big game hunting.

Friedman said in the Arizona segment he thinks it's less likely Bjudgstad and Kerfoot move than he initially thought.

He also said Buffalo isn't going to make any big trades in-season unless a team forces their hand with a huge offer. They'd rather wait until the offseason.

Maybe cMac shouldn't have waited until the 11th hour before trying to get a 2C, eh? Looks like another contention season wasted for no damn reason.

Have we made all the trades yet?

Seriously though, in not going to be stunned when we do absolutely nothing. Honestly probably better he doesn't do anything at he'll probably find a way to make it worse.

Nobody has yet to show me a link from Friedman linking us to Kerfoot so I will keep thinking that all these Kerfoot talk are coming from him saying that "he thinks the Avs COULD be interested in a guy like Kerfoot". I am paraphrasing with that comment but it is pretty well the gist of what I heard from him last week. I have yet to see anything from him saying that we are linked to him. Big difference.

As for Dater's comment I see it two ways:
1. He has picked that up from Friedman but misinterpreted Friedman's comment or
2. He is being used by the Avs to leak the Kerfoot news to put pressure on another team to lower their ask on a 2C the Avs are interested in.

Yes, they absolutely are.

The fire cMac thread probably should have went up last summer after he left the team out to dry, now he's about to do it two years in a row. Alex Kerfoot? JFC.

Extending Toews to an ugly contract is even more idiotic if they don't do everything in their power to try to win immediately with him. Still having a massive hole a 2C isn't trying to win.

I don't even think Mittelstadt is putting their best foot forward in trying to contend. He's the best option out there but I'm not convinced he can hang at 2C with the Avs trying to win a cup.
 -to the Toews deal being 'ugly'

Also let's not jump to conclusions. A report by Dater/Friedman around Kerfoot doesn't suggest that CMac is seriously targeting him. There's a lot of posturing that happens and Dater knows only what Sakic tells him. Maybe they are floating that out to get their real target's ask down.

No front office is flawless. Sure, CMac/Sakic have made mistakes in the past, but their good moves have outweighed their bad ones. RyJo might be a costly mistake but the Newhook trade, the Colton trade, the Wood signing were all wins. Tatar didn't work out but we basically just swapped him for Parise, which is another win. Batting 80% is about as best as any fan can hope for.

You don't even know that it's Mittelstadt that they are after in Buffalo. Just pure speculation on your part

The look of a broken man....

Jesus, get this man out of Pittsburgh.

Sid is having a hell of a season and is the only reason the Pens were relevant that long this season. But it really hurts to see such a performance wasted.....

From all accounts, he's staying there of his own volition.

Hard to feel too sorry for him.
