Leadership of this team has about 3 days to prove they care about icing a good team to win a cup. To this point I just don't see it. I'm sick of these unnecessary losses due to them ignoring obvious needs while depleting the top players. I don't understand the managements strategy. But ignoring 2C for nearly 2 full seasons, backup for 2 full seasons, and then sitting on their hands this entire season is so bewildering.
I dunno about 3 days - personally, I'll give him until Friday and about 1 hour after the TDL when those late trades trickle-in to get it done...but he has to get it done.

To me, this roster is stale...and needs a big addition or a big shakeup trade.

To me there are 2 really obvious teams that CNap needs to be negotiating with : Buffalo & Ottawa.

It doesn't matter if you overpay or 'lose the trade' the important part is getting that player that you've identified can be a solid #2C option into the lineup to help this team out.

If it's me, I'm making a trade for : Mittelstadt, Cozens, Pinto or Greig and then I'm trading with Philly to get Walker because acquiring the #2C will have likely cost Byram.

Get that shit done ASAP so we can talk about getting Nuke back and getting a #4C and backup on deadline day.

Yup they need to do something big now. I really struggle to see how they'll compete after this year at the same level. The waste of talent this year is beyond absurd. This team should be running away with the Western Conference. Instead the star players are getting ground down and beaten by playing 25-30 a game. Waiting til the offseason is f***ing pointless and a waste of assets. At that point they'll have less cap space and have to move 2 pieces off the roster to fit one.

I know you now have to type this for those who can't handle criticism. I'll obviously still watch and root for the team lol. I just think they could do better and wish they'd do it.

My bet is they get Wennberg here in a few days… it fails and they get Fatty in the summer.
If you and I (and most of the people on here) can see that it wouldn't be enough, why can't they?

Why not go straight to getting lardass?

If the plan was to swap Byram (3.85M AAV) for CM (2.5M AAV) it would have been done already. That's not a deadline deal, there's no reason to wait to do that.

Although Georgiev hasn't done himself any favors, our "best defense in the league" has looked all out of sorts all year. It's frankly unacceptable given how much cap Cmac has put into our defense. We need a shakeup type trade back there and the thought of losing Byram for a 2C would just solve one issue to only bring up another.

I'm hoping they explore getting Byram back on his natural side. Pair him with guy like Gudas and see if he can get back to his full potential.
yes this coaching and decision making is strange.

Yup.

I hope CMac goes back to CBJ either way.
Take Bednar and Pratt with him

I wanted to give georgiev a chance lately, this team ain’t getting anywhere with him in net. It doesn’t matter what else we do with the roster
In all reality the Avs so punt the season and sell. They aren't winning this year anyways if we are being honest.

Sell Manson to the Leafs and send Ryjo out.

Because CMac so far as THE GM has shown a hesitance to pull the trigger on big deals, and often attempts to find the most budget/thrift-friendly option
Yeah I get that but Mittelstadt is making $2.5M this year. They could fit him in right now...use him for the playoff run and as an RFA, even though this is unlikely, they could even turn around and trade him at the frikkin' draft if they can't come to an agreement on a long-term contract.

I completely understand their thinking "well, we've got Ritchie coming" but in my opinion - that is a mistake, one that they've made in the past with Jost & Newhook.

Don't bank on a young prospect taking the league by storm at age 19,20,21 - if it happens, great - that's a nice problem to have. You have to live in the NOW just like your competitors are...the ones who keep making bold and aggressive moves.

The Avs cannot let their fears of being up against the cap because - Landy is for sure coming back 100% or some shit like that - stop them from being aggressive and giving themselves the best possible chance to win. Even if the odds on Landy coming back healthy for the rest of his contract are 50% which I think would be very high, you still have to proceed as if he's going to be on LTIRetirement as you move forward. You roll the dice and if it happens, then you probably have no choice but to trade Rantanen anyways.

Agreed but it does not seem like CMac's plan. He seems to want to build the future as much as possible while making little moves here and there and praying the top guys win out. Just look at what he has done since being named GM. Nothing he has done says "win now"

This forum is a lot of fun right now. Positive vibes abound. CMac has a deadline defined by the league, not defined by when fans want stuff done. Be patient.

I don't understand comments like this.

CNap - hey K-von,.I'm calling you about Mittlestadt, what do you want for him ? Malinski and a 2nd round pick?
K.Adams - surely you jest!? How about Makar?
CNap - alright how about Byram ? You'd probably have to kick-in something else though.
K.Adams - we kick-in something else? I think it's the other way around. Casey's on pace for another 60 point season and your boy is playing on the bottom pair.
CNap - ok fair point but when Byram was an integral part of a Stanley Cup Final, your boy was coming off a 19 point season.
.
.
.
It's just an example of a stalemate on how each team could view the players involved in that hypothetical trade. That's why it's not 'just something that would have been done already'... I can easily see both points of view but the Sabres are not the ones that have a need for the playoffs...time is on their side.
