I disagree with your original premise.

With the correct additions, they can win with Georgiev IMO.

Your opinion is REGARDLESS of the team they put in front of him, they cannot win. I completely disagree with that opinion.
I mean disagree with me all you want ain’t gonna hurt my feelings.

This team isn’t gonna get the pieces needed to put in front of him and as this team is right now they ain’t winning shit. And if they don’t pull their heads out of their ass they ain’t gonna make the playoffs

What's the difference in value between Casey Mittelstadt and Bowen Byram?

Basically a middle six center, with potential to be a good #2C for a top-four LD who has the potential to be a good #2 or anchor your second pair.

This board could just be very interesting.

Is there an rfa out there that's the same but different than mittelstadt?
Shane Pinto maybe?

He's better, would probably cost more but other than speculation right after he was cleared to start playing again, I haven't heard his name in any rumors as being available.

This won't affect anything. Mikko has shown in the past he's willing to negotiate for the highest dollar figure possible.
Yet he got like 2mil less than Marner did, despite being a better player. And at that point, there was no internal cap via MacKinnon.

Although Georgiev hasn't done himself any favors, our "best defense in the league" has looked all out of sorts all year. It's frankly unacceptable given how much cap Cmac has put into our defense. We need a shakeup type trade back there and the thought of losing Byram for a 2C would just solve one issue to only bring up another.

I'm hoping they explore getting Byram back on his natural side. Pair him with guy like Gudas and see if he can get back to his full potential.

So which starting goalie are you thinking the Avs should trade for?

Trading for a starter at this junction of the season seems unlikely and would cost an arm and a leg on top of the other holes we have. I think you gotta hope and pray with Georgiev. Bolster the defense and hope he at least gets back to his numbers of last year.

I’ll be honest, if the Avs fail to make an impact in the playoffs again this year I’d want big changes. If George continues his play from this season and last seasons playoffs he needs to go. If CMac sits idol but somehow still wastes assets (ie the Lars Eller trade) he needs to go. RyJo needs to go.

Heck, keep Bednar but change the assistants.

I mean I'd say Mitts is just straight up a 2C right now. 59pts last year, pacing for ~65pts this year and has been pretty good defensively.

Leadership of this team has about 3 days to prove they care about icing a good team to win a cup. To this point I just don't see it. I'm sick of these unnecessary losses due to them ignoring obvious needs while depleting the top players. I don't understand the managements strategy. But ignoring 2C for nearly 2 full seasons, backup for 2 full seasons, and then sitting on their hands this entire season is so bewildering.

We basically need to do a rehash of the Kadri(mitts) - Barrie(Byram) trade.

I hope CMac goes back to CBJ either way.
