Wow huge news if accurate. Shows that they are trying to move him out and as others have said, probably have another move lined-up.Lebrun says Avs were finalist for Tanev. Speculates they offered their first…as long as Calgary would take Johansen.
Not necessarily. You read it that way but we've seen New Jersey get in on the action to retain money for a pick... I heard that Nashville will be open for business in that way as well. They probably don't want to do it for 2 years though. There's going to be a team out there that will play ball, eventually even if it means that the Avs have to pay a 2nd to another team like Chicago that will probably buy him out. (Or keep him - who knows)Teams around the league know how desperate the Avs are to get off RyJo’s contract..that’s not a good thing.
I'm reading it like that as well. If you're going to be moving out Byram, you don't want to do it BEFORE you've already acquired someone that's going to be playing his minutes...you wanna do it after.Exactly so my belief is Byram would be the piece going the other way. It has become very quiet with BUF so I think Cozens or Mitts is the 2C targeted/already lined up.
That's us
They aren't, they are keeping Markstrom to send a message to the players that they don't give up.Why they care? They are blowing up the team. I don't understand their owner.
The wait might be that the deal would be conditional on first finding a D replacement, that would make sense. If we were in on Tanev that's what it tells me. And if it didn't happen the backup plan would be to do that in the summer and shift to a Henrique type.If he's sending G or Byram for Mittelstadt or something similar there's no reason to wait at the deadline to do that.
He's probably aiming for Henrique or Wennberg, which aren't worth a 1st pick. Problem is we're short of 2nd and 3rd picks. Wonder how he'll navigate that.
It's also possible that he thinks that Mack, Rants, Nuke, Landy, Lehky and Drouin is a fine top 6 and there's no need to add a 2C.
And if they try really really hard they might just finish 10th in the west! They aren't, they are keeping Markstrom to send a message to the players that they don't give up.
If RyJo doesn't come out for the 2nd, we'll know for sureCould be the Avs for sure. If they were in on Tanev this would be the consolation prize
He could workCould be the Avs for sure. If they were in on Tanev this would be the consolation prize
Keep trying fellas! And if they try really really hard they might just finish 10th in the west!

It sure could
Lebrun said 2 teams offered a 1st and a player. Speculated the Avs and Edmonton with Ceci.So did he say RJ specifically or a player with term?
Sounds like the Avs, but are there no other playoff teams with contracts they'd like to shed? Honest question.

I think so. I'd have to go back and check the article, but I don't think he knew 100%.So it was Lebrun's speculation as opposed to what he heard?

I don't have a subscription anymore but that's the article where he talks Avs/RyJo
