Lets say JT miller was somehow some way worth it. How does the cap work? Like we can’t just add some 8 million dollar player here. His contract is ridiculous and going to be bad about 4 years from now, and id you like that Pastrnak guy, werenot getting miller. And Miller is lazy defensively. Why do you think hes the best player on an awful team
He is not even that. Pettersson takes that spot.

Nothing wrong with the future considerations part of the deal - it's allowed, even as you wrote it.

As for trading the player back in the offseason? I'm sure the league may frown upon it, and other team fan bases will scream and shout, especially if the Bruins win the Cup. But I don't think it is against any rule that I can find.

In fact, there is a precedent to this.

The Blues trade Keith Tkachuk to the Atlanta Thrashers in 2007 for a playoff push. Then a week prior to free agency trade Tkachuk back to the Blues where he signed an extension.

There is nothing written in the following CBA's that I can find to prevent that scenario from repeating.

Thanks Dom. A buddy of mine sent me part of the CBA that essentially says "If a team trades away a player and retains salary in the transaction, that team cannot reacquire the player for one calendar year after the date of the transaction."

So that squashes this for sure.

If it’s doable getting Toews makes the most sense to me for lineup versatility, center depth, left shot faceoff depth, cup experience and you’re adding a fairly skilled player who can move up and down the lineup for less than top price. Add him and a depth d and roll with that. Secondarily i would also love barbashev, edmundson, or one of their other d.

The Edmundson love is something I don’t understand. We have Forbort already, who is signed for less… and Edmundson eats $3.5M right through next season. If the Bruins are going to make one trade every 30 years with the Montreal Canadiens, I hope to hell this isn’t their target.
Agree we don;t need Edmundson, the price for him and Schenn is too high, these guys are not worth a 1st.

Give me Hertl 10 times out of 10 between the two. C'mon San Jose, you didn't sign that contract Doug Wilson did so you can move him Grier!

Would not have loved it had Boston given him that deal.

Then again I don’t think they ever had anything the more than a “checking in” interest.

Dis agree I think in today's NHL you need to limit how much you have tied up in to few players
