I'm not against adding a top 6 vet player but Boeser of all people is not on my list (albeit ik you mentioned him because his alleged availability). If given the chance I'd sooner add Horvat than Boeser and make sure we added a leader type with definite defensive chops and some offensive flair. Thats just focusing on one team as a target though. My main grief is with Boeser. He's never gonna be the piece that puts us over the edge and sending assets for him while handing him a 7 mill contract makes no sense at all to me.
No, I named Laine, Boeser, and Fiala because those are the names that came up with Buffalo connections on the Cold Stove podcast. Horvatinteresting , but it seems to me that he would be unavailable to us only if the sign and trade, but I don't even know Vancouver considers his trade. I don't see a problem with Boeser, he won't have to play the role of first fiddle, he will be an additional scorer in the top 6.

I don't know if there are players like Fiala, Konecny, Bertuzzi, Keller, Kempe, Garland, McCann, Iafallo, Gurianov or Zacha, if you don't like Boeser.

It will be difficult to sign a good UFA in Buffalo, but maybe one of these guys: Burakovskt, Trocheck, Copp, Nichushkin, Rakell, Palat, Niederreiter, Marchment, Domi, Namestnikov. As you can see, I'm not obsessed with Boeser, but I think he could be a good option for our top 6 and PP.

I'd take Konecny and Keller over Brock. If I'm signing free agents and not sending assets out (which is ideal) Copp is a perfect fit. Palat in second place behind him.

That being said back to my original point I'm not focusing on spending assets in draft capital or cap space on a boderline one dimensional winger when I more badly need likely 2 rhd, 2 goalies and a defensive centerman. It's cart before the horse thinking.

Only Keller will probably cost twice as much as Boeser. That's why I said it depends on the price, I also like Konecny.

But Boeser is not a problem in D either, it works both there and there. I have already said that top 4 RDs and goalie are the priority, if Adams solves this problems and a player like Boeser, Konecny or Fiala are available and the price is right, I would be in favor of adding one of them to the roster.

Taking in Halifax vs. St. John and wistfully wondering if there is any way to get L'Heureux out of Nashville at this deadline. I doubt it. But man, is he the sort of player Buffalonians would love.

We're in the worst possible position regarding goaltending. There are legit goalies in the system but the next couple years need to be figured out. They need to start thinking about gunning for the playoffs sooner than that. Nobody's trading any goalies of quality and the free agent market is always bare. I wish we could fast forward to Levi season.

Mitts? Olofsson?

What about Kunin for our top 9?

Unlikely that Buffalo does a deal with Nashville, just daydreaming about what the Sabres lack.

32 Thoughts: Could the Predators trade Filip Forsberg?

1. The Nashville Predators know that to re-sign Filip Forsberg, the AAV must be higher than Matt Duchene/Ryan Johansen’s $8M figure. Forsberg knows that, if he wants to stay in Tennessee, he’s going to have to come in lower than Roman Josi’s $9.059M. I wouldn’t be surprised if Forsberg initially asked higher — you don’t negotiate against yourself — but that’s where everyone’s got to get to: the sweet spot between those two numbers. (Plus structure and no-trade protection.) There’s time. I believe there is a will for both sides to get there. If we get to the deadline and the Predators don’t believe they can sign him, that’s when a trade becomes possible. GM David Poile could keep an unsigned Forsberg past March 21, but it’s not his preference, and won’t happen if progress isn’t being made.

Nashville is going to be really interesting team to watch as we get closer to the TDL.

I would expect them to sell off a former 1st round pick for immediate help. So, the better question is whether there are any guys that play with that kind of jam that might be there in the late 1st/early 2nd this year.

Nashville shopping Forsberg would make sense in a way if Buffalo had a player like L'Heureux to offer. It'd be magic if they could manage to attach someone like that to any bit-part rental sort of deal they might make.

No because the 3rd was conditional on Eichel winning the Conn Smythe. If not it was two conditional 7ths based on his games played.
Sure, but you seem to be forgetting about that one in a million possible timeline within the multiverse where Chytil becomes almost as good as Eichel.

As well as something about different shades of blue regarding Rangers blue chip prospects.

I agree.

A bunch of teams are looking for goaltenders every offseason. It feels like there is a shortage of good goalies.

Devil's is one example, with Berniers future unknown and the questionable play of Blackwood.

It would make sense to buy out Bjork in June.

Total cost is $600,000. KA could sign someone for league minimum that would perform better than Bjork and still save Pegula $450,000.

Or send him to Roch, they can even trade him for another cap dump with a slightly larger cap. Why should Pegulas save money? They have to spend, so we might have trouble getting to the floor.

I hope they re-sign him when he’s a RFA to more years. The annual complaints about bottom 6 players on cheap deals, on throwaway seasons is comical every time.

Hrmm, I initially felt that they'd never go for the buyout, but given its 1/3 not 2/3 they might go for it

Anders Bjork Contract Buyout Details - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Saves them 1.5M in cash NEXT year (he was due 1.8M), so it'd free up a significant cash. It does kick 300k onto 23-24. But, if you have a million dollar 4th line instead of Bjork,

Spend 600k to buyout Bjork, spend 1M on 4th liner, still save 200k net over paying Bjork 1.8M next year.

It's not just a hockey decision, it makes economic sense too.
