I truly do not understand why everyone has Powers slotted into a full time NHL role. The leap from a very good college team with a ton of support around him, to a fulltime role on a below average NHL team is huge chasm to cross. He should be starting out in Rochester, likely for at least a year to continue a less pressured proper development path into the pro game. The jump in the number of games alone is something most players take a lot of time to adjust their lives and training routines to match. That is some of the important things learned in the AHL and is not a step that should be skipped.

Adams will need to make a few tactical trades and smart signings to fill needed roles. He will need to overpay to keep the term shorter, so that the team can start winning, which is critical to its development, while at the same time leaving contracts layered in time for the holes to open up for developing prospects to step into. Got to stop driving players from draft to the NHL and skipping the development process that will help them reach their full potential.

No. There is no 1st overall pick who gets sent back post draft for the entire year and then spends another in the minors. Power is going to be a Sabre at the end of this season.

i think it is fully expected that power is nhl ready. it’s not ridiculous to expect him to step in and be a contributor.

What would you say are your standards to determine if a player is ready to step in a role, and when they are being fast-tracked to the main roster?

Is both Klingberg and Manson do-able?
Dahlin-Klingberg
Power-Manson
Samuelsson/Bryson-Joker

The short answer is no.

Manson is looking to stay out west from what the pundits are saying. Klingberg is rightie Dahlin - PP producer and mobile but not really a good player in his own zone. That means one of Power, Dahlin or Klingberg is not going to get PP cycles and two of those guys are already getting paid (Dahlin and a UFA Klingberg) for their past production that is built on a lot of PP points.

He'll be on the team. There is no reason to send him down.

Dahlin by the way is a better defender than Klingberg in D-zone.

Things to remrmber

summer 23 RFAs are Thompson, Cozens, Asplund,Samuelson
summer 24 RFAs are Mitts, dahlin, Joki, Power, Krebs.

buffalo will need future cap space to use.

they don’t need to spend big in UFA and they shouldn’t.
This off season it’s about spending to get to the cap floor.

I expect their top pick to be a RD who would play in 23/24 season.

1st + 2nd? Easy :naughty:

I think Power is ready for NHL. He was drafted 1 OA for gods sake. I can not remember when last time player was drafted 1 OA and didn't played in the NHL D+1.

The lost season of 04-05 postponed starts.

other than that therr might have been situations srounfodthe Winter Olympics and waiting to turn pro post olympics and players drsfted high from Europe might have waited a yr or so.

We've (arguably) missed Colin Miller more in the lineup than we have Casey Mitts
