Rumor: 2026 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Offseason Edition

He won a Gold with USA and sees his Olympian buddies having fun teaming up on American teams.

Also, Winnipeg was a pretty good team. They suck now.
Also, the goalie market, salary cap etc. were so much different when he signed that deal. I bet he signed that 8 year deal pretty fast when that was offered to him.

The guy I can see them trading for is Darnell Nurse. Retained down to like $7M.

Not saying its one that I would like... But its the kind of risk I could see them wanting to take for the chance to get a really good value player.

I do wonder how Nurse would look away from Edmonton and in a role more suited to him. But its certainly very possible he's bad.

Morgan Rielly also makes sense and 2-3 years ago probably would have been a great fit for us. Not so much these days.

Nathan "you can't win with young players" Mackinnon is probably seething looking at our mock roster with all the rookies coming in. Hughes, Brindley, Svechnikov and L'Heureux are about to feel Macks wrath come training camp.

Why would Colorado be more suited to him?

I have a hard time thinking of a high priced defenseman that would struggle more in our breakout system than Nurse.

He would be turning pucks over at our blue line over and over.

Yes Nurse with retention and getting maybe a second rounder to take on his cap. Good long term solution. Like a younger Manson with a Graves-esque flair to his play.

Svechkov. If they had SvechNIkov they'd probably have to bring Jordan Martinook to greet him.

I still like Graves (to an extent) and believe it or not, I like Manson too, but the combination of the two sounds like an absolute nightmare of a defenseman.

Has a no movement clause, and apparently wants to go to Philly or Pittsburgh.
