Rumor: 2026 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Offseason Edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
As an extra, the Avs are in a very healthy spot capwise for next year. Over 40M in space with 13 players signed. Makar will obviously be the 14th and take a good chunk.

But otherwise they have 25Mish (give or take 2-3M) for the remaining 8 spots.

I'd prefer to keep that 29 first as well, maybe see how we're actually doing two years from now, I just put out the idea since we used the 3rd.
This is where I disagree. Outside of a top 3 pick, I'd rather the AVs trade it.

Remember... The Colorado Avalanche selected Tyson Jost #10 overall.

The Colorado Avalanche do not deserve to pick in the first round.

Sources indicate the Carolina Hurricanes made a pitch this week for United States Olympic gold medalist and three-time Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck. The offer was believed to include a first-round pick along with pending RFA defenseman Alexander Nikishin, a player swirling in trade winds this week.

I don't see the Avs trading for a Top 4D. I don't think they have the draft capital and unless Roy, Kadri or Nelson are going out I don't think they want to trade out any more players that can play in the top 6. I think they will be paying a few free agents and unfortunately don't see a path to getting much younger (Burns excluded) unless Gagne becomes adequate as a 5/6 (that they don't have to pay).

With Landy, Kadri, Roy and Nelson all about to be a year slower, I can’t begin to tell you how much I hate the Avs middle six group of forwards right now.

A LHD has always been a priority, but that middle six needs a section of slow removed for some speed and creativity.

BAH GAWD THAT SOUNDS LIKE NELSON TO MINNESOTA, 1ST AND YUROV TO LA AND MIKEY ANDERSON TO COLORADO

@RoyIsALegend are the Avs still taking calls on that mystery player? :sarcasm:

No.

Barring somebody making an offer that can’t be refused, we won’t be trading away any NHLers.

I could see Brindley being included in a trade for a defenseman along with other assets if it makes sense for us. Just my personal feeling.

I can see that too, but it's hard to see that bringing back a top 4 defenseman, given their future assets don't you think?

With Val, Ross, and Drury gone, it kinda feels like we're gonna go another year without one.

Which also feels like the odds of bringing back Burns might have gone up.

They managed to find Toews with 2nds. I think they might find someone with Brindley and the collection of picks.

Imagine... all this drama and these dreams you created... destroyed like tears in the rain.

Turns out... Calgary was trying to get a leg up and bring Cale in early by offering us the shit we gave them for Kadri back plus two 2nds. :sarcasm:
