Boston Bruins 2026 Offseason Roster & Salary Cap VII

He isn’t going to drive the play but he has that nasty shot and his shooting IQ is very high.

At 5 million we can’t complain. His contract is amazing. I’d listen to offers for basically anyone but I wouldn’t be shopping him. 30 goal scorers don’t grow on trees. Even 20-25 goals at 5 million is easily acceptable.

Some one would have to make me an offer I can’t refuse or I’m keeping him.
Seems like his lack of offence in the playoffs has turned people against him ,or maybe his comments about starting time of game ,dumb comment sure but really didn’t get worked up about it ,and as far as not scoring goals, who did really. He has a relatively cheap contract still pretty young.I wouldn’t move him.

We need a true 1C.
We need a 2/3 D.
Other than CMac, Zaddy and Asp, trade the rest and upgrade. Hampus isn't terrible, but he is injured often.
The interesting part is, with what we'd have to give up to get that, our depth and prospect pool would be gutted, and as a result I don't think we'd even be that much better. This team is kind of f***ed.
We need to pull some 2nd round rabbits out of our asses like Berg/Krejci/Lucic/Marchand

Agree here, it is very easy to complain and critisize every move after the injuries. The Hampus signing was loved by 95% of us. He is a top four guy and I see no problem when healthy.
We seem to forget Hampus was a 2nd team all-star in 2023. 4th in Norris voting, got 12 first place votes. Best plus/minus (+49) in the league. Then the injuries kicked in.

Pasta to Toronto for the first overall pick - who says no and why?

A big No, there are no generational players in this year's draft. Furthermore Pasta is a bonafide top 8 player in the NHL on a great contract, Sweeney rightfully hangs the phone up on that call.

Definitely not anywhere close to being enough for arguably a top 3 RW in the league. And I think its more so because McKenna isnt considered a generational talent. If this was a Connor McDavid expected to go 1OA this year, then its a conversation.

Great trade and signing. I wish we would do more of trading and extending players.

The issue is Hampus missed 30% of possible games since joining the Bruins. He's going into his age 33 season with 4 years left on his contract.

If they can find a landing spot for him I would at least explore it.

Just a side note wish we had a dislike we could hit for posts we totally disagree with .
This is a proven bad mechanic for social media. It creates division and foments anger very fast. Has destroyed communities before. Even the big names early on tested and tossed it very quickly.

Which is saying a lot about an industry whose algorithms have been purposefully engineered to create division and foment anger.

Boston. Chances are high that pick is never on the level of Pastrnak and he’s signed to a somewhat reasonable deal. Yes it would bolster our future, but too much risk IMO. If you instead sent him to SJ for something like 2, 9 and Misa, I’d be intrigued.

He’s easily a top 10 NHL player, maybe top 5. Not confident any of these high picks this year will ever get to that level.

I say Toronto says no primarily because of the age factor.

While Pasta is an amazing player and he'd give them a big jump for the next 4-5 years probably, it's hard to ignore that he's 12 years older than whoever Toronto picks at #1, almost surely McKenna. McKenna playing with Matthews and Nylander, if only on the PP for now, will probably be something to watch.

I was not a true believer that McKenna is a classic 1OA franchise player but the more I watch him, he just has elite vision and playmaking skills that have swayed me. I think he'll be very successful IF he can play with other top players who can capitalize on his talent. Toronto should provide that. Matthews has the big shot and McKenna is a playmaker - I can see a lot of points piling up there, with Nylander in toe.

It's just hard to ignore that you'd come to the end of Pasta's prime within 5 years while McKenna would only barely be entering his prime at that time. And he'll cost a lot less for the first few years of his deal.

I mean, the reasons why Boston might entertain such a trade are the reasons why Toronto probably would not.

Interesting. I feel like how could anyone say yes?
How many first overall picks have turned out better than Pasta? I genuinely don’t know but feel like it is 50/50 at best. The age thing is the part that makes the most sense and I can see favoring it, but the gamble is not worth it to me.

Hampus was absolutely dynamic that first year. It’s a crying shame that injuries took away all his burst and have relegated him to being a heady defensive defenseman who can’t physically make up for any mistakes.

The Hampus injuries and Elias contract are the two most devastating things to happen to this franchise’s construction and progress in years.
