Boston Bruins 2026 Offseason Roster & Salary Cap VII

Mittlestadt had some moments down the stretch, but was by and large uninspiring. He was as advertised, talented but unreliable. He can go. If he was the answer to play with Pasta, he’d be there and we wouldn’t have a major hole.

Geekie was in the perfect position to produce, went on a huge run, but then plummeted down to earth for months. Sell Mortimer, sell. A bunch of guy put up 30 goals next to Pasta. I call it the Kip Miller effect. Play a pretty normal guy with Lemieux and Jagr and boom you have a career year.

No, I don’t want picks, I was responding to a poster that wanted the 2nd overall for Geekie+…which is a dream…

I want a true playmaking center for Pasta. True.

And what was his stats before the last two years? He blew up at the right time, but consistency/confidence is an issue, even the last two seasons where he scored. First year he was terrible, sat out games then blew up after the new year scoring like crazy. That run lasted until the following new year where he started to trail off. Still better than the seasons prior to last two but still we need a consistent/confident Geekie through a whole season because if he isn’t scoring he doesn’t do much else well which is why he bounced around the lineup spent time on the third line after the new year.
If you got his best consistently you're figuring he'd be a 50-60 goal scorer?

If we can do a sign and trade with Buffalo for Tuch, would you move Geekie and Lohrei to SJ for #2 overall?

Draft Stenberg.

Not sure those two pieces get it done alone but its intriguing. Geekie just put up 39 goals with an incredible cold stretch. Playing him alongside Celebrini I could see him putting up 50 pretty consistently.

Draft Tommy Bleyl and all of a sudden we have:
Hagens-Letourneau-Stenberg-Poitras-Zellers-Locmelis-Brunet-Bleyl to compliment
Pasta-Zacha-Lindholm-Tuch-Minten-McAvoy-Lindholm-Zadorov-Swayman
In what world is MG and Lohrei worth anywhere remotely close to the 2nd overall pick? 😂😂

Please stay away from Petteressen in Van no more room for injured, overpaid or lost their touch kind of players. 11.6 mil is not something you want to take a chance on and hope for the best. This would be another big nail in the coffin.

I see the same thing happen every year that we are in on all these trades but nothing ever transpires. I do not see anything happening on the trade front that wiil bring positive vibes to the team for now or in the future.

We all want to get rid of a lot of players but you have to be able to convince willing dance partners to participate.

The only Bruins that could pry #2 and/or #9 are Pasta and McAvoy.
Yes, and they'll never trade him. However, I think Pasta could fetch Michael Misa, the 2nd overall pick, the 9th overall pick, and the 27th overall pick. Suddenly, your prospect pool would include Misa, Stenberg, Rudolf, Villeneuve (Boston's 23rd overall pick), and Piiparinen from a single draft. Then you add Poitras, Brunet, DiPietro, Locmelis, Hagens, Letourneau, Zellers, Simpson, Johansson, and Groenewold. That's an impressive collection of young talent....and need patience for 3-5 years

Was really hoping Mittlestadt's play could have sparked some interest around the league.

You missed 24-25?

Cant rip on guys for injuries (well I cant) - think a healthy pair of Lindholms and a 100% Pastrnak would have us as legit contenders in the East.
I cannot dump on Hampus, he has played well here until the injuries, that he got playing for the Bruins and for the most part he played well. Elias, is a different story, I still think he was damaged goods before he got here, and I don't blame him for his contract that is why they the game, I do blame Sweeney for totally another inept move from him, or a panic move take your pick.

Agree completely and am hoping for something like this even if unlikely. SJ has a lot of prospects and only certain # of roster spots. I think they are in a position where they would want an established, elite winger with a relatively good contract. Until Bruins have a 1C and better forward depth, Bruins are going to be wasting a lot of pasta. Misa would give us the best center prospect in our pipeline and Stenberg is probably close to NHL ready.

I would do it.
Grier would not.
But, if you think Geekie can put up 50 pretty consistently, why would you even suggest it?

Geekie 5 years left 27.5 mil 5.5/year

Canadian media talking yesterday about Jason Robertson asking for 14-15 million per. That's the new reality in the NHL. Robertson might be making nearly TRIPLE what Geekie is paid next year. And while Robertson is the superior player, he scored a grand total of 6 more goals than Geekie did last year, and scored 6 more playing with better line-mates (i.e. not Elias Lindholm).

On the flip-side, Jason Dickinson is getting 4.0 million over the next 5 years to be a bottom six zero-zone centerman.

That Morgan Geekie contract is an absolute steal in today's NHL.

Just to kill time, I looked at who was taken 23rd between 2014 and 2025.

I little uplifting, TBH.

'25 - Logan Hensler
'24 - Stian Solberg
'23 - Gabe Perreault
'22 - Jimmy Snuggerud
'21 - Wyatt Johnston
'20 - Tyson Foerster
'19 - Simon Holmstrom
'18 - Isaac Lundestrom
'17 - Pierre Olivier Joseph
'16 - Henrick Borgstrom
'15 - Brock Boeser

Well bud, the guy has done nothing but score goals since he's been here. 35+ goal scorers don't grow on trees. Plus on a friendly contract as well. Maybe Geekie and Lohrei isn't enough, but after the Buffalo-Chicago deal last night, who the hell knows. The fact that you took the time to insert two laughing emoji's in here also shows me that you're a giant douche!

There I just saved us all 30 minutes. You’re welcome

Typical Sweeney. Guaranteed. While scoffing at any of the mildly challenging questions.

Start of this season I was excited to see the player I thought we were getting - even more physical and abrasive than I expected, then . . .

If Pasta was 23, they might trade 3 of those 4 assets for him. He is 30. They’d trade the 27th pick, but none of the other three assets for him.
