Stankhoven would instantly be the Avs third best forward.

Canes ended up doing well.
MacK, Necas and Nuke are unquestionably better than him and an argument could be made for Lehky and even Drouin RIGHT NOW. Stank has 29 points on the season, ffs. You can bank on his potential all you want, but Carolina is in win-now mode and all they've done is downgrade from Necas/Drury to Stankoven. This is horrible for them.

Edit: Forgot about Nelson, too

Praying for Mikko's bank balance right now I know he will feel this

I can't blame Mikko for his part in this. He wanted to get paid, and his world got turned upside down. Avs made the best of his situation and Carolina made the best of theirs (but the canes are giving up contending this year). Dallas sneaking in makes too much sense and I hate it so much. Mikko on a rival and the team we're likely to play in the first round? f*** no.

Significantly more? Absolutely not.

Necas is a legit top line player entering his prime. The Canes mostly got magic beans that might turn into something one day.
Yes. SIGNIFICANTLY

Necas has been offered around the league for 1.5 year before getting traded to Colorado.

There's no way in HELL any offer they got for him was anywhere NEAR what they just got from Dallas.

They knocked it out of the park with that Rantanen for Necas swap and that's regardless of our love for Necas.

And?

Necas all season has been a top 10, borderline top 5 scorer. Signed for another year at 6.5. That is insane value compared to Stankoven's 3rd line production.
Carolina is also severely weaker than they were before the first Mikko deal with the Avs. They are trying to win now, not 5 years from now.

Imagine the Avs trading out Mikko and Mitts this year, and getting picks, an aging winger past his prime, and a project C with 3rd line production? People here would riot.

We'll see what Carolina does with those picks in the next 90 minutes. Maybe they can add more to help them now.

Pretty close to worst case scenario for the Avs. Not going to bother doing the homer thing, this is a huge addition for Dallas. The contract probably won't age well but who cares? Like the Nelson trade, it's all about trying to win right now and this significantly improves Dallas' chances.

Having said that, the playoffs will be insane between these two games. Everything the NHL could've hoped for.

Also, **** this poindexter looking MF'er. Hope Burns gives this little dork a wedgie and stuffs him into Mikko's old stall.

I don’t care about how the Canes did with Rants. We need to focus on improving the Avs. Gudas, Carlo, Marchand and Tuch are still available.
