Oh that team was incredible. Insane. Total domination. Couldn't agree more!

Kadri just came off a 44 point in 73 games season with Toronto, and was getting reduced ice time. 55 points the season before in 80 games. Let's not forget the Jared Bednar (AVS culture) effect here guys. I see this season being very similar tbh, and the potential for improvement in these new players is exponential. Remember how everyone ragged on Nuke's scoring in Dallas?

Low key, makes you realize that we have squad this year.
Those are still just massive shoes to fill

We can all say we love the Rantanen-Necas trade, and I guess I do too. He fits this team well. But during that 2022 cup run, Rantanen was our best scoring forward (25 points in 20 games). Yes, he had more points than MacKinnon. Necas has been a playoff ghost so far in his career, 0.5PPG. We'll see how it goes. Hoping for the best.

Having any of EJ, Malinski, Middleton, or MacDonald playing in the playoffs is an issue. So yes.

I love EJ, but he wasn't even a #6 on the Flyers.

Every team has 2nd and 3rd paring quality guys mate - every team has a cap.

You show me where on other teams a defensemen (Lindgren), a top pairing D-man in NY, gets to sit with comfortable minutes on a 3rd pair, to chew up minutes and to make it easier on the top 4 guys?

Malinski has been good enough all season so far. Now he gets pushed to 7.

That defensive unit listed, is honestly the best in the NHL. List me one superior core?

Avs have one of the best defense because Makar is the best defenseman in the NHL.

But in terms of depth (i.e. taking away their #1) i'd take many team's #2-6 over ours assuming they're healthy. Florida, Washington, Vegas, New Jersey just off the top of my head.

Cup roster in 2022 vs roster in 2025

Mack --> Mack
Lehky --> Lehky
Nuke --> Nuke
LOC --> LOC
Rants --> Necas
Landy --> Drouin
Kadri --> Nelson
JTC --> Coyle
Burakovsky --> Colton
Helm --> Drury
NAK --> Kivi
Cogs --> Vesey

Makar --> Makar
Toews --> Toews
Girard --> Girard
Manson --> Manson
Byram --> Lindgren
EJ --> EJ (old)
JJ --> Malinski

Kuemper --> Blackwood
Francouz --> Wedgewood
I’m not sure what’s the point of this. Just because the 22 roster was better than the current one, doesn’t mean that the current one can’t win it.

I mean the 2001 cup roster was better than the 2022 roster. If that’s not what you were trying to say, I apologize

Gabe has probably be ready for weeks, just waiting for the playoffs to make his debut. That’s my conspiracy theory and I’m sticking to it.

That's always been my conspiracy theory as well, but who knows.

The skating away from cameras, the hype from the 5 part doc that both he and the Avs signed off on, and this interview kind of support that a bit.

It's not like the league is going to question whether he's healthy enough to play, after an experimental surgery that he's been out almost three years from.

The Avs also can't activate him because they don't have the cap room for it. They'd need another big salary or two to go on LTIR to play him in the regular season.

Every team has flaws. Stars have Dumba on their 3rd pair and Ceci on their top 4

Makar and Toews started for the team Canada as the first pairing as they should. Little respect to Toews! Those guys are minute munchers and should play a lot of minutes. It's fine to have less depth when you have top top guys like this.

Toews is sooo underrated because Makar is generational or all time great.

Meaning: we have the best top line in the league. By far. That's tough to top even if you have better depth.

Colton, Wood, Ryjo, Mitts + almost all the low end guys like CDH....the pro scouts post cup haven't been good. They can't even get credit for Drouin they have nothing to do with it.

When it comes to finding that next breakout 2C or 3C yeah.

Drury is looking good though.

At least Coyle & Nelson are very proven commodities.

Worth noting also the 2022 roster was one of the best built in the cap era. They dominated the regular season and went 16-4 in the playoffs
