Picking up scoring also makes a ton of sense considering last playoffs while running some form of 5D/Nils/Suter/Petrovic/etc we still managed to be 2nd in GA per game of the teams who played in at least 2 rounds.

and 6th in GF per game...

The offense went dry and without Johnston's heroics in round one we likely would have been eliminated.

Would suck to see Mav go but rantanen level players only become available so often . If they can get him for mav and some picks , or prospects it’s a no brainer but hard to see them going for that when they’re also trying to win . I don’t know if I’d want to break up the roster too much this time of year with how good they’ve been .
 
I feel like it's unlikely Dallas would trade an impact player like Vegas or Florida could. When I say impact I mean someone who's a genuine top 6 forward or top 4 D...perhaps not a star, but a solid player.

Would Carolina lessen their chance to win the Cup for a young promising player like Bourque and a draft pick likely in the 25+ range.

Gut feel is they say no and go for their cup run.

I'm still leaning towards smoke and mirrors on all this. Current feel is Rantanen stays in Carolina.

If this deal actually happens, and we have interest in signing Rantanen, I think Stankoven will be involved instead of Bourque

And if I'm Carolina, I view Stankoven as a guy who could potentially have a genuine impact in the playoffs.

Who on our roster other than Mav and Stank could we add to to land Rantanen? Marchment? Feels like the ad would need to be quite substantial. But I can’t imagine Carolina wants a bunch of futures.

It would be nice to get a partner for Miro before the deadline as well, our bottom 4 is set and are very solid.

We don't need a big name to pair with him, we just need a steady presence that we don't have to worry about, just like Lyubushkin & Ceci have come in and done.

Connor Murphy could be that guy.

I don’t think either will get traded but ya stankoven would probably have a little more value . I think if they make that trade though they are basically admitting they screwed up , wich I don’t think they will do .

Colorado pick up Brock Nelson for a 2026 1st, Calum Ritchie a 3rd rd pick and Kylington. (Isles flip Kylington to Ducks)

Huge price and overpay, but Avs do have a strong top 6 again.
