That's my first reaction too, but why on Earth did we pay a second rounder for such dog water?
It's a rapidly dwindling seller's market. Zucker re-upped. Palmieri isn't moving. Still no word on Donato. I guess they didn't want to be left empty-handed, which I guess makes sense with Vrana gone and Milano reportedly not close. Then again, you never know what else may shake loose late...

Beauvillier isn't awful but probably short of what they need. Better and more established than Frank but not super well-rounded. Has bounced around a lot. He can score but...is he better than Mangiapane? I don't know. Maybe? Maybe a little faster but still not all that dynamic. I guess it puts a bit more pressure for third line spots...for guys to produce or else. But that competition can also be somewhat counter-productive as rhythm becomes a challenge IF no one steps up. We'll see but definitely underwhelming on the face of it.

Assuming he signs a similar extension (that's a big assumption lol) would people have done a similar deal for Rantanen?

Probably looking at McMichael + 25 1st + 26 1st + something else

carolina adding stankoven (and probably boeser)
florida adding jones
tb adding bjorkstrand
buf adding cozens
col adding nelson
vgk adding smith

thank god for chris patrick; making huge moves like brining in beauvillier when its the last chance for ovi

cant wait for our game 7 winner scored by Team Chemistry, assisted by marginal upgrades available and it was a sellers market

Prices are coming down. There will be value here in the last hour. I suspect we have one more in us. Then we can evaluate the full picture.

After doing some reading Beauvillier has been much better this year than I originally given him credit for. He's been a very efficient 5v5 scorer and it has not just been a shooting percentage bender. Better fit for us than B. Tanev

I think he's an upgrade on Frank, even if it's not as big of one as I would've liked and for a higher price than I'd expect.
I like this take. Bouncing between calls while trying to follow but i looked a bit deeper too. He has some relationships here. his play will fit in with our style although he doesn’t bring a lot of grit. But i think he will fit our fast moving team approach. he can play center if needed. Don’t love him as a top six center but it does provide some depth.

Still hoping for another top 6 move with Mangi going out for Cap space reasons. But if he ends up staying that is fine for bottom six.

But our two weakest links in Milano and Vrana are out so we are improving. maybe Milano for playoff depth. And i don’t really care about our second going out given the strength of our farm right now.

Carolina salvaged the situation for sure.

Turned a major L into a minor L

Dallas big winner

Colorado minor L for having to see Rantanen again

Trying to think of what the Caps equivalent price for all of these deals + some extras would be:

McMichael + 2 firsts + 2nd for Rantanen
1st + McMichael for Jones
1st + 2nd + Frank for Bjorkstrand
McMichael + Iorio for Cozens + 2nd
1st + Cristall + 3rd for Nelson
Lapierre for Brazeau
Lapierre + 3rd for Smith
1st + Mateiko for Laughton

Which one of these would you have been happy with?

The only deal that has happened that I think the Caps both could and should have been in on was Bjorkstrand.

And what the hell is going on here. I now have to confirm my reactions. X posts aren’t showing (just the link). Dislike!!!
this site is awful to deal with even on the best of days lol

nah youre right its actually smart to trade a 2nd round picks for scrubs

who needs a good middle 6 center or anything, thank god we have lars eller

my name is really that big you remember everything i post hahahhahaha
You’re not that important, so don’t flatter yourself. Your posts are borderline trolling since you only post to stir shit up which is why I have to pay attention, and unfortunately as a moderator I can’t mute you.

If you want me to pull receipts on all of your terrible takes this past summer let me know, I should have some free time at work this afternoon.

Colorado and Tampa are going for it.

Come on GMCP pull something out of your hat. This team is a great regular season team but I don’t see the depth to survive the war of attrition that is the loffs.

Do the clouds you yell at ever respond back to you?

BTW, I thought you were done with this team when we paid the ghastly cost of 2 3rd rounder for the awful goaltender that is Logan Thompson.

Interesting take from someone involved with Caps (no I won’t share my source so you can delete this if inappropriate).

“Beauvillier has some bite and has a good stick. 2nd rounder was a lot but it is a sellers market”.

Also said there is a tremendous amount of activity right now. Doesn’t mean something will get done, but there is activity.

Don't love that swap for Colorado, but I guess if they were determined to move on from Middlestadt I'm not sure what else was out there for them.

Carolina absolutely comes out as losers from the Rantanen saga. Just completely unserious about actually winning a cup
