Four years for Marchand is too much, I think a bunch of us have wondered this year if he should call it this or next year. A lot of miles and wear on that body. I wish him the best, but I wouldn’t be happy with them signing him at that term, and neither would most of you I’m betting.

Brad has to play. 25% of playoffs first two rounds.
Thats the condition for the first round pick.
First for Marchy is good.

If Marchy is healthy then he’ll obviously do that. If not, then a 2nd is a throw away for the right to negotiate an extension. If Marchy indeed wants 4 years, hard to see FLA doing that.

That injury cost us big time. Big big time. Is what it is.

I think it's 25% of games in the first round, 40% of games total in round 2.
Never saw that 40% number. Sweeney just said it was 25% across the first two rounds. After that (if they hit the 3rd round) and he has played a quarter of the games in the first two rounds, the conditions were met. He could be out every game after, it was the first two rounds.

On balance, I would give Sweeney and the Bruins an A, or A- at worst, for the activity this week.

The good:

1. They were decisive in their direction and made bold moves.

2. They have officially turned the page and next year's team will look very different. They had reached the end of the road with the current group and the reset happened.

3. The team got younger and there will be a lot of new kids over the next few years to work with and build with.

4. I don't dislike anything they brought in. We will have to see the new players and prospects in action but all offer some promise and may be part of the future. The draft picks, we'll see what those turn into.

5. For a team that is thin on upcoming draft picks and prospect depth, they added both. The 2025 draft could be fun. They didn't super load up on 2025 picks but with their own possible top 10-12 pick and a couple 2nds, that's worth watching.

6. They made 7 trades. 7. That's going all in on the direction.

The bad:

- I don't love the Marchand return. I accept that it is what it could be probably be but it feels pretty light. Seeing the conditions on the draft pick becoming a 1st, those seem within reach.

- Wish they added more 2025 draft capital but they did okay.

So begins a rebuild or retool, whichever it really is or you want to call it. This summer, there will probably be a high draft pick, there will surely be a new coach, there will be a lot of open jobs, the cap is going up and there is more cap space. It's something to look forward to coming out of a bad season.
