He might not be back. Gap in terms of years, which won't change in the off season. Somebody will give him the 4 years he is seeking. That's why I think he'll be back July 1.

What I’m hearing about a Brad Marchand trade and what the Bruins expect in return
The Bruins have made it known they are serious about trading the captain, and as of Thursday night they had set a high price.www.nytimes.com
Dom posted that the B's offered 2 and he wanted 4.
It was never about money with Marchand.
It was not about money FFS. It was about TERM. Sweeney just said it was about term.So like I mentioned Marchand wanted to be a Bruins for life on his terms. Not like Bergeron who took paycuts
Well depends ifFluto

Not if he wants 4 years .That's why I think he'll be back July 1.
I’m less than hopeful hearing the “gap on term” in the presserThat's why I think he'll be back July 1.
In another 3-4 years let alone the time for that prospect to begin developing into the next Beecher. Correct. Pastrnak will have retired by then.So the 2nd which might turn into a 1st was really what we got for Marchand? Wow terrible.
Term is not money.I’m less than hopeful hearing the “gap on term” in the presser![]()
Yeah the Marchand one is a loss, but if he was leaving anyway then I’m okay with getting something instead of nothing. I’m fine with the risk on Jokiharu, a late 4th rounder isn’t much value, so a gamble that he could work out and re-sign is pretty low risk, at minimum that’s probably a draw.Lost on Marchand (unless Marchand remains injured/leaves Florida)
Lost on the Buffalo one
Otherwise absolutely won each trade individually. Sweeney did well but these last two trades sours the success a bit.
Wait, we need to stop that narrative. Brad has taken hometown discounts every single contract. Every single one. He didn't muddy the waters here, he saw McAvoy, Pastrnak and Swayman all get value and not take discounts. Bruins didn't want to do that and the term. Fair for both.So like I mentioned Marchand wanted to be a Bruins for life on his terms. Not like Bergeron who took paycuts
He has to play in 25% of the playoff games for a first. Weird
Who knows if Marchand wanted years at a discount. Issue is for 35+ contracts even if he is injured or retires the salary cap stays. 4 years is a big commitment even at 3-5 million let alone 7.So like I mentioned Marchand wanted to be a Bruins for life on his terms. He didn’t take a discount. He got paid what he was worth at the time of the contract. His contract was locked in well before those guys got their money.Wait, we need to stop that narrative. Yep, that’s what I mean, they could not agree on length of new contract, not sure if that changes in the summerTerm is not money.
Exactly! Cant have it both ways. This is a promising day in B's land!can`t wait for those who screamed this team needs to blow it up now complain Sweeney and Neely have done just that
