Fluto on a potential Marchand deal:

The Bruins, meanwhile, are not just listening on Marchand. The executive noted the Bruins have made it known they are serious about trading Marchand. As of Thursday, they had set a high price.
As for what that might be, another NHL executive speculated that Marchand’s market value at this year’s deadline was a first-round pick, a roster player and an A-level prospect.

Common sense to explore every avenue on trading an aging star player as team enters a rebuild

I am also baffled by this whole Rantanen situation. Dealt to a contender and now Carolina desperate to offload him just because he won't sign? What the hell was Carolina GM doing during the trade talks with Colorado and pulling the trigger? And giving up Necas in process. Lunacy.

With Colorado and DAL most likely off the board for Marchand, we are losing a lot of good fits. EDM i can't see fitting him. Vegas assets aren't that appealing unless its someone from the roster and I am not creative enough to see it. So thats leaves what LA, Winnipeg, Calgary? Not sure Marchand would want to go to all of those ha.

Well before things get crazy I for one will say I’ll be sad to see Brad traded if that happens. Trade your captain? Even if you might be able to get him back in the off season this doesn’t sit well with me. Maybe I’m just old fashioned and I guess we traded Bourque and Thornton when they had the C. Man if you told me in October we would be serious about trading Brad at the deadline I’d have laughed in your face.

I hope this team loses every game for the rest of the season if Marchand is traded. Great way to tear the team apart and hurt your ability to sign players.

Could be way off here, but I think Marchand is staying. Sweeney asking a first plus plus according to Servalli, so that tells me they really don't want to move him. Which is fine with me, but Sweeney needs to do something to load up with more assets, picks or prospects.

So far all he's done is gotten a couple of serviceable bottom 6 players, exactly what the Bruins have a plethora of already. Along with a some picks in a weak draft and a minor league defenseman with a ceiling of a 5-7 NHL defender.

He needs to hit it big today!

And just like that Lauko is back. Not sure i love the return though if we're honest. But also wasn't expecting a ton

Was expecting a 4th at best so 2 serviceable players and a pick is fantastic! Lauko could replace what Brazzeau brought, so, the Russian kid and pick were throw ins.

This is just an absurd take but ok.
The team doesn't need help losing WITH Marchand. Set the organization up better for future. Free agents aren't gonna have 2nd thoughts on coming here because you did Brad Marchand a solid and traded him to a contending team.

This whole no trade clause/limited trade culture in the NHL needs a huge shock. Not every player has to retire with the team they've been with. I didn't realize fans were as big a part of this culture as players are. Get over it guys. It's pro sports. Everything will be ok.

I don't hope for them to lose but I realize that it's better for the team in the long run! As for signing players, they know it's a business and teams are going to do what's best for the team, not an individual! Brad is from my neck of the woods and I love him as a player but getting something to help your team on a no PO year, with the ability to sign him in the off-season is just smart asset management!

In other words not happening.
